I think we should be getting category ideas six months before this happens. I might just fucking run it next year.

Have I even helped anybody within the past year? I stopped doing that shit after realizing that nobody listens to me when I recommend them things to begin with, so I don't know why I got nominated for that. I also don't know why I didn't get nominated for funniest, but then again most of my posts this year have been of a serious nature rather than trying to be funny, with obvious exceptions.

No, I'm sure you help people, so don't be so hard on yourself. People here listen to you because you're the "metal" guy around here who listens to the most metal. I've done what I could to hunt for some of your recs a few times here & there, so you're not useless, just too serious at times. You've progressively got less & less funny since I started posting, but I think that's a good thing for your cause. Every post you used to make was either very funny or a somewhat bad crack at humor. Now it's just like "woah, this fucking guy is serious".

Um, indirectly so, I guess. Like that trad. doom thread; I just looked at your first post then went and listened to as much from those albums as I could. I haven't done so in a while (since I don't believe it's been active... then again I haven't checked), but I'll skim that thread (and others) to see what bands people are talking about that I haven't heard, and if I see you saying they're good I'll most likely check them out.
The only specific bands I can think of at the moment that I checked out specifically because I you said they were good (or so I recall) are The Gates of Slumber, Trouble, The Obsessed (maybe?) and Ribspreader. Also Warning, but pretty much everyone was talking about... By the way, I didn't manage to obtain a copy of Watching From a Distance until a few weeks ago and holy shit do I wish I'd gotten it sooner. It's so fucking good. Especially Footprints, imo
