In Flames - Colony Drum Sound.

I love it. Well the guitars too.

Now someone post the magic waves plugin setting to get it instantly.

Has anyone got any details and thoughts? What drums were used. Etc.

Anyone achieved similar results and how you went about it.

indeed, this is probably my favorite in flames cd. the only thing i don't care for is how washy the hi-hat sounds, but the drums sound really badass.

I just listened to Cloud Connected from Reroute To Remain. First I thought that either have something wrong with my ears or on the monitors but then I listened to Faith No Mores Evidence and it sounded perfect. Oh man the mix on that song sucks balls. Its just hissing and booming, totally smothered mix if compared to Colony.

I love the mix on Reroute to Remain, really unique yet awesome. Colony sounds pretty cool too, although Clayman is superior for me . I actually like pretty much all of In Flames's productions since Colony really.

Haha, I was experiencing exactly the same.
The weird thing about R2R is that it actually does sound muddy but you can still hear each instrument clearly or what notes are played if that makes sense. It is a cloudy sound, yes but you can't deny the somewhat interesting character it has.

Yeah well, how could you dislike anything recorded through the Valnött?

I kinda dig the production on Reroute to Remain. It's really bottom heavy but somehow it still works.

Lol, I've seen that video. Honestly, my favorite IF production was Jester Race, the guitar tone can't be recreated!

I've been tearing my hair out trying to work out something similar to the drums used on this album too. They are so verby, too verby to just be the room surely? Any leads on this?

All I think I know is that the drums were all natural, because I can hear quite a bit of bleed into the kick mic.
