In-flames studio episodes (New 2011 album)

I'm sure it's a bit strange for them to be in the studio writing without Jesper. Bjorn lost his writing partner of what... 20 years? So I'm sure it's gotta be very depressing for him. Just looks like they are running out of steam.

Yeah, I got that impression.
I swear more bands should pull an Isis and split once they've said what they needed to say. There's always a point you can observe with most bands where that shift happens. Or maybe I'm the only one that percieves that, but I dunno.

But you know...you can split with no problems when you are a band that does it for "hobby" but when you are a band like In Flames and you live doing albums and tour 300 days/year it's not that easy. It's like doing a job for 10 years and when you're bored you leave it.... but it doesn't work this way

Yeah, I won't comment on the sound based on bad YouTube-quality. I was commenting on the music itself.

Theres a breakdown of every song by Anders somewhere on the web. Where he explains every song....He said this song is not a typical IF song, and will raise some eyebrows....So i dont mind.

Depends how one views the music you create. Is it art or is it business? Is it self-expression or income?
For me, if the business side is intruding on the purity of my self expression, I would walk away.
In Flames have clearly chosen not to, aside from Jesper.

You can say it doesn't work that way, but it really is that simple.

Having said that. I really enjoyed the audio aesthetic they went for on A Sense of Purpose, if not the music in the slightest. I will probably grit my teeth and listen to this album too, if only for the sounds.

You're right but they make money and they mantain their families with the music. Yes it's a business...but who doesn't wanna live (well in this case) playing music?
They have a big studio, they buy restautants, they have 2 trucks of scenography on tour...... if they are able to do that is because people like their music and buy it. I mean, who would listen In Flames today if they re-start to play like we are in 1995? They said it in an interview "we like to play songs from the first albums but when we are on stage, people is annoyed...but with Trigger or Cloud Connected everybody's jumpin'"

I just listened to Deliver Us, well I must say I like the song, not as much as ASOP but it's pretty decent. However, I don't really like the production, it's flat especially during the chorus, the guitars are too weak, it doesn't explode as it should...

I don't think the second part from the sample was the chorus...
