In the market for a Madi Interface: SSL MX4 vs RME HDSPe madi

Hey guys, I´m switching from ADAT to Madi for my new studio, this way I will be able to record at 88,2 32ch, but don´t know which one to invest in...
RME: HERE is cheaper than SSL
SSL: HERE with 3 plugins included (duende style)

Don´t know if any of you guys have some sort of good/bad experience with Madi or with one of these interfaces...

Cheers!!

I haven't used madi but the SSL card is on my WTB list for a while now. The SSL is highend so you don't need to GAS for another "better" interface in the future. I would go with the SSL (noticed that yet haha) the plugins are topnotch. THe Duende channelstrip slays the Waves one

Yep, I know SSL is high end but everybody always states that RME is fucking stable, the mixer is awesome, the routing, super low latency bla bla and it makes me doubt. I have also a SSL AX Madi/Adat converter so I´ll put them together....hoping to read a: No, no, no, stay away from that SSL interface cause there only a very little info about the MX4
But thanks anyway mate!

I was looking at getting the same system as you in order to hook it up to HD Native. I did a heap of research and everything I found was nothing short of fantastic praise for the unit. That being said I'm still on my Fireface 800 and RME really is rock solid! I don't think you'll regret the SSL though, they make quality stuff.

The SSL isn't going to sound different (its a digital i/o after all) so if you like the RME mixer and the drivers are great there is no need to pay for a name unless you really want the plugins.

RME has an external mixer with routing options...maybe you'll never use it but it can be usefull if you want a zero latency monotiring.
I've also read about bad problems with ssl madiextreme 128 and PT9
