What influenced you into getting into Anthrax?

Was it by chance?
Was it by coincedence?
Did a friend hook you up?

For me, one day back in high school I was riding my bike on the street and I saw something on the ground. I took a closer look to see what it was and it was a tape of Fistful of Metal. I was enthralled. When I look back at that moment, it seems kind of weird for that to happen to me, because at that time I really started getting into the whole scene and stuff.
After that, I heard about Attack of the Killer B's and picked up the I'm the Man EP, and the rest is history.
 Just wanted to share that piece of info.

I went to See Metal Church at the OMNI in Oakland ... THe Dark just cames out..... they signed stuff and i got a Pic.... i still have it... Well they were middle Bill and Some band named Anthrax headlined..... July 2 1987.. Still have the Stub.....the rest is history!!!!!!!

I got into Anthrax the first time I heard "I am the Law" live when my cousin played the "I'm The Man" ep back when it came out. I don't think I'd ever heard anything that heavy before and was instantly a fan. Just got "I am the Law '91" today btw.

Back in '91 when I was 10, a friend of mine brought Killer B's with him to school, and he played it on the boom box we had in our class at recess one day. I instantly loved what I heard, and I really liked the humour in the songs. Plus there was the thrill of hearing the swear words in Starting Up A Posse! I saw Anthrax/Public Enemy with my dad that year as a late birthday present. Been a fan ever since I heard Killer B's on that boom box that fateful day!

My friend played me "Madhouse" off some burned CD he made, and I loved the beginning chug riff. After that, I heard Only, and that clinched it.

Fan for life

A friend let me borrow SOE. I liked them but I gave my friend the tape back and then forgot all about them until I heard Got the Time on the radio. Then my friend, after school one day, played me intro to reality/belly of the beast and from that day I was hooked.

Me and a friend spent a lot of time doing simple computergames. He coded and did music and I did the graphics. We had two Amigas in his room and we listened to his GREAT new stereo, De Lyckliga Kompisarna, Cure, Iron Maiden, Popsicle and this band called Anthrax. They became my favourite, I looked at the artwork and it said "Persistence of time" and I decided to get that album. A couple of weeks later another friend and me was at the square market and I saw an Anthrax CD, a new one. This had novas or something and a skull printed on it and it was called "Sound of white noise". This was their new record. I got curious and bought it. I played it at my friends house... "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, that´s an aggressive intro man" I said when "Potters field" started. I liked the new singers voice more then the guy on "Persistence". Joey taught me that the devils music is great and John made me sign the soul-contract.

For me it was chance. A friend of mine in high school (1987) brought two tapes over he stole from his older sister. Two songs, AIR and Fight Fire With Fire. That was it. AIR for me blew everything away. From that point, Anthrax all the way. Anthrax is a band for me that put fun in music in general. Nothing to take seriously but enjoyment. And how cwn you not like the humour.

friend of a friend lent me 4 metal tapes and soe was one of them,i wasnt even thinking about liking heavy metal but after i listened to it i was hooked, and yes amiga computers were the shit in there day lol, cool u can still play them om pc.

Basically by chance, there was a videotape with few rock/metal videos brought home by my father, and there was a Madhouse video. I was ten at the time (1988) and I remember not liking it very much for the first time. But I kept watching it over and over and then I was hooked.

I remember that for me it was when I saw the band in a "prog" of the comic 2000 a.d. here! I got my dad to go and buy me "Among The Living" on vinyll from one of his workmates who had bought it to try and get into thrash and couldn't!

I played that lp on my stereo non-stop, with headphones on at full blast, reading Judge Dredd in 2000ad's (Ive got numbers 1-540  ), with 'Thrax on in the background, and since then, I've always had a soft spot for Anthrax, who were, for a time at least, my favourite thrash band. They are also the best thrash band I've seen live, with both Bush and Belladonna - waaaaaaaaaaay better than Megadeth or Metallica, and just pip Slayer to the post.

Since then, I just can't help feeling like I'm 10 again whenever I hear the opening strains of "Among The Living!":muahaha:

For me it was a far out chance!
My brother had forgotten to get me a present for my 11th birthday, so in a lunch break he sent one of the delivery boys, from the grocery store he worked in at the time, downtown to buy any tape for me. And this delivery boy happened to like Anthrax, so he bought Persistence Of Time...

I still got that tape, though it´s worn out completely!

Because at that age all they cared about was nap time and Mr Rodgers.

So, at 15 then? :p

I started getting into Anthrax about senior year of high school ('97-'98). Gotta blame it on my friend Pete. He was listening to Killer B's a lot and I dug it. Of course, my poor ass wasn't able to afford any of their albums until I got to college.

Background: I was a metal head early on.

Anthrax: It was 84/85. I had already gotten into Metallica and started listening to some Slayer and punk and then ran across Anthrax while looking for new bands to listen to - it was inevitable.

First Purchase - Armed and Dangerous EP (picture disc) still own it - I bought it after I read a review in Kerrang.

Fuck I'm old. I could go on about the 80s but it would be like acountry song about Grandpa talking 'bout the good old days.

A friend brought I Am The Law single, which I liked. I then brought said single and played it all the time. My sister brought me Among The Living for easter instead of an egg, best fucking egg ever.
