the guy which is shown on this cover, (Per Yngve Ohlin aka "dead"), was once the vocalist of mayhem. He made his synonym become reality, and commited suicide... when euronymous (their guitarist, later killed by varg vikernes) found his corpse he took a photo, which is shown on the album cover of their "dawn of the black hearts" bootleg. Rumours say, that hellhammer (their drummer) and euronymous sold pieces of his skull and his brain to fans...

I don't know it, i've only read that there was such an rumour

And the thing, hellhammer made a necklace out of dead's skull fragments is another story. Btw... there are also rumours that euronymous cooked a soup with pieces of dead's brain... sounds tasty...
