I cant get enough of them, so i need everyone to post up all the metal instrumentals they know so that i can revel in the vocal-less bliss that is the metal instrumental..

Here are song good instrumental songs I can think off the top of my head.

At The Gates - And The World Returned
Death – Voice Of The Soul
Iced Earth - 1776
In Flames – Man Made God (Excellent Song)
In Flames – Dialogue With The Stars
In Flames – Acoustic Medley
In Flames - Wayfaerer
In Flames - The Jester's Dance
In Flames - Dreamscape
In Flames - Hargalaten
In Flames - Pallar Anders Visa
Metallica - Orion
Sinergy – Born Unto Fire & Passion
Sinergy – Pulsation

That’s about all I can think of right now. I know there’s a shitload more, but other people will end up posting them.

Haven't we discussed this twice before? Well, maybe you didn't see it at the time, so I'll recommend "Transcendental requiem of slaves" by Satyricon (off "Nemesis divina") again and Joe Satriani, especially his "The extremist" lp. The lates of his record I've really heard is "Time machine" from '93 and I think "The extremist is the best".

pick a band and chances are good that they will have at least one instrumental on every album (almost).. this means there are hundreds out there (too many to list). i do like instrumentals, though, it's a chance to see a more musical side of a group, like how they can fill space without vocals. sometimes this results in very short songs if the band can't come up with much, but a good metal band can write great music with AND without words.

Dream Theater - Hell's Kitchen, Erotomania, The Dance of Eternity
Both Liquid Tension Experiment albums

Blah, blah, blah.

Well, I listen a lot of pure instrumental-albums and here's few I really love, I've skipped all fusion etc. albums in this list, so these are more metal or dark mooded:

Yngwie Malmsteen - Concerto (or the live-version)
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Marty Friedman - Dragon's Kiss
Tony MacAlpine - Premonition

But these albums are VERY guitar-oriented, so if you don't like that, don't bother... :)

yes yes. does anyone know what that means. i actually have to get a swedish and norweigean friend for all these translations.

I've heard two different translations. The first "twilight songs" came from the old official Ulver website and the second "evening singer" came from a norwegian guy I was talking to. Take your pick.

As for instrumentals check

Rush - La Villa Strangiato (from Hemispheres)
The first two parts of Psychotic Waltz's Dark Millenium
the orchestral version of Blind Guardian's - Theater of Pain

These are the only metal instrumentals that come to mind right now, I could suggest some more but their aren't metal. If you are interested let me know
