Intel Speedstep...

OK I decided to resurrect this thread... When I disable Speedstep my Notebook gets very slow. What can I do about this and how can I get the most processing power out of my notebook?

I get 40-60C on my I5 750 (from 2.66 to 3.66ghz) with a 15 euro CM TX3 heatsink+fan

I'm using gigabyte's MB software to keep the speed minimal unless it goes to 60C which only happens when I'm exporting and therefore don't care about noise. Most manufacturers have such software and while they aren't very useful for much else they do help for temperature and noise control.

Haha, funny to see this one back- i thought people would care more when i found this. If I lived in an Australian summer, I dont think switching speed step off and over clocking would be on the cards without proper water cooling - and traditionally of course the highest overclocks cannot be reached with a cpu teetering up and down all the time. The very highest overclocks are also of course where your heat moves up exponentially.

I do have a mix at the moment eating about 50% of my cpu on 1024 samples, and my chip is running at 4ghz currently which is a bit lower than i used to have it. Thats inclusive of a psuedo master chain as well though including nebula and fgx. Im tempted to put it in the garage with an ultra long cabling system going up to my room. Its -5C out there at the moment and I think I could probably get towards 4.5ghz-5ghz lol
