Interesting News!

Yes but Metallica isn't cool :P

Seriously though I don't know what to think of it. I don't know if it will just get a bunch of PC gamers into the band suddenly or if it will turn out to be one big embarassment....

Yeah but you have to remember, they are not the ones making the game, they are just providing feedback ala voices, music, and story, the stuff they already do quite well. It is really moreso up to the game developers to make a really good game whether its based off of a band or not. But that is where I am most worried....I have never heard of that game developer before, and on their site it shows that they are working on one other game while mostly concentrating on the WHG game so it shows they are probably new to the game market....THAT worries me!

they once talked about it in an interview and said it looks quite cool.

Hah, do you think they have a choice? Besides, if the game does well, they make money. Of course they're gonna endorse it.

I was talking to a friend of mine about it and he reminded me of the most horrible game ever based off of a band. Anyone remember Revolution X? It was for like the Sega Genesis I think and was based off of the band Aerosmith. You had to shoot your enemies with cd's....it was very bad.

Anyway, I think SA has slowly become one of my favorite bands over the years, especially after seeing the recent live dvd and seeing how awesome they are live. I just don't want them to get ppl into them who just suddenly like them because they love the WHG game....

I see nothing wrong with them gaining fans through other means. To deny them this would make previous fans elitist pricks...

However, I don't feel that a video game inspired by a metal band will be any good *at all* and that they should instead focus their time and money on making more music. If they wanted to make games, then they should drop the band and make games. Half-ass attempts just don't do it for me.

well...that was quite early, when the game was like 1 month old. This was just their first reaction to some screenshots-they thought the idea of a game was a joke before they actually, the whole real management shit came later.

Oh really? Yeah, then that's different.

I remember Revolution X! That was a horrible game but enormous fun - and I never knew why you shot cds at people... anyway, chances are Sonata Arctica doesn't have very much involvement in the game, and will be able to concentrate on the music.
