I just don't want them to get ppl into them who just suddenly like them because they love the WHG game....

why not? if people see the game, play it, and think 'holy shit who did the music for this?' and then proceed to become fans of the band, I dont see a problem with that. You can't be elitist to potential fans simply for the fact they might not have had the opportunity to be exposed to the music before..

I'm sure SA would love to know people can get into their stuff all kinds of ways.

P.S. (I'm doing alot of P.S.'s today) - I hope SA has more taste than to make a stupid game such as that Revolution X one. I love RPG's, and if it happens to be a good one I'll be very pleased to add it to my collection.

I am just saying that people won't necessarily like the music for the music, but rather like the musics because of the game. For example, me and a friend of mine play a lot of rpg games, I like the music in some games because I like the music whether the game is good or not. But he can hear a song from a game and not care for it at all because it does not pertain to a game he knows or has played. He tends to like music from a game because it is more of a nostalgic trip of games he has played and enjoyed, therefore, he only likes the music because of the game and not because he really enjoys the music for what it is. I am not saying that there aren't at least some people who will hear SA music in the WHG game and actually like the music for the sake of liking the music, just that there probably won't be many like that.

I see nothing wrong with them gaining fans through other means. To deny them this would make previous fans elitist pricks...

However, I don't feel that a video game inspired by a metal band will be any good *at all* and that they should instead focus their time and money on making more music. If they wanted to make games, then they should drop the band and make games. Half-ass attempts just don't do it for me.

How do you know it is a half ass attempt? The band isn't spending a huge amount of time towards the game, it is the game developers who are attempting to make the game good. There is no half ass attempt from SA, they are just providing some voices and music to the developers so THEY can work on making the game. From what I have read so far it seems the developers aren't making a half ass attempt because they seem quite determined to make a really good game. I think it all boils down to if the game is going to be heavy or light on the SA/power metal theme. From what I read about the premise of the games story it doesn't seem to be cheesy as int "a metal band is out to save the world" type of thing. I think it will be light on the references because I don't think they are doing anything with the band except some of their music in the game and they prob make cameo appearances as other characters rather than themselves. The only thing I think that will make it cheesy is if they screw the story up and use an idea in the story where like the playing of an electric guitar destroys evil or that the band members in the game are a band in the game too that have like super band powers. As long as they don't do something cheesy in the story like that I think the game has great potential if the game is fun to play.

The point I have made twice so far is that I'm not going to lighten up my expectations on a videogame just because a band I happen to like is involved with it. It still has to deliver. So far, I'm not impressed. I'd rather listen to SA.
