I've seen one song... on a metal show, video clip of a bunch of eighties hair doo's flapping around. Wasn't impressed... so what's good about them, their best stuff etc...?

Eighties metal bands had eighties hair dos - not that it affects the music of course.

Killer A's is a good introduction to the band, their better studio albums are generally considered to be among the living, spreading the disease, sound of white noise and persistence of time.

Hope you find something that interests you in that lot.

If you want to get introduced to Anthrax, I´d advise you Sound Of White Noise album first. Then the rest.

I would get Sound of White noise then try and find Vol. 8 (internet would be your best bet on finding this one. I seen import versions and used copies out there) then get Stomp 442. I recomend the John Bush Anthrax because that's what your going to hear on the new album. If you like them then get Among the Living then Persitence of Time then the rest. The Joey era.

Yeah, it depends on what your looking for. If you want a taste of Anthrax over the span of their career, get Return of the Killer A's. If you want to hear what Anthrax is about right now, and will continue to be in the foreseeable future, pick up any of the last three albums (Sound of White Noise, Stomp 442, and Volume 8), and you won't be disappointed.

Plus, if you go with the John era stuff, you won't have to worry about 80's hairdo's.

Nevermore and Opeth forums... it would be 10,000 if there was death or atheist forums

Nothing wrong with the eighties hairdo's at all, big metallica and megadeth fan, and although i won't admit it often, i actually own a few poison lps

I got sound of white noise... pretty cool stuff... Room for one more is classic..

I heard a few tracks from Persistance of Time too, very cool.

Vol 8 does indeed own

I prefer it over SOWN, the bad thing about Vol 8 is that the Americans can't find the album when they're in abundance downunder.

Oh and Nevermore and megadeth

(Why don't we have that smiley?)

:muahaha: That all deopends on your tastes. If you like early Metallica, early Megadeth you'll like early Anthrax with Joey. From SOWN on, they "lost" some of that "edge" but it's still H E A V Y as can be and they haven't sold out like Metallica doing stipud ballad sh!t. I'm 33 and I grew up on the "old" 'Thrax--Joey era stuff so that's what I like although I do have SOWN and Vol 8, I still like the early stuff better.....that doesn't mean it's "better" just that I personally like those albums more.:Smokin:

I feel ya mang! I myself grew up as a Anthrax fan that loved Joey Belladonna,(I'm 28) and I'll never forget that I actually fell out of my chair when I was watching MTV and the annouchment was "Anthrax has fired long time singer Joey Belladonna"! However, when the word came that Anthrax was replacing Joey with John Bush I was almost instantly recovered! I already had a couple Armored Saint albums in my collection so I was like "Wow, John Bush with Anthrax? my god! it could work", and I'll never forget when me and about twelve of my friends all ran to the record store that morning when SOWN was released, and none of us were disappointed! Long Live Anthrax!

Cheerz!
