Im not here for arogant remarks, or disrespectful attitudes, Im here to further my knowledge as a home producer. Not for a band, not for other bands but merely for my passion of music and hoping to keep it in my life as a home studio.

Ive been in many other bands that have failed miserably and just feel i could do so much better on my own, but lack a bit of know how (not common sense)

Talk to me though, ask me something, teach me something. Im open to learning, being helped and helping.

Name: Adam Nesbitt
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, England
Age: 17 (20/02/1995)

My studio: Abstract Matter (Audiovisual productions)
My bands/projects:
Main instruments: Guitar, Keys

When did you start Audio Engineering: 2009 (Aged 14).
Started out making Hardstyle and House in FL Studio with a friend. At around 15 I found Reason and taught myself about sampling, synthesis, dynamics and so on. More recently I have focused on my love of metal. I'm currently working in Reaper with a select few Waves plugins and some freeware.

Visual Prouction: I study Multimedia at Gateshead College. I have skills in Photography, Motion Graphics, Animation and Film. As of present I have completed one video commission for Seth Munson (of the forum). You can check out my work at http://www.youtube.com/user/AbstractMatter?feature=mhee

Name: Justin Dean
Location: Phenix City, AL (not a typo, haha)
Age: 1987

My studio: Carry Yourself (home studio)
My bands/projects: Carrier
Main instruments: Guitar, but I like to play around with drums, bass, keys, and anything else I can get my dirty hands on.

When did you start audio engineering: 2006, started getting serious in 2010
Production experience: I started down this rabbit hole because my old band (before nights end) went to a local studio to record an ep and the engineer told us he didn't want to do it because he doesn't want to edit double bass. (Seriously) So we took that money and bought cubase, a tascam condenser, and an interface. Since then I have acquired much better gear and I'm working on more project with (hopefully) better results. :) I've only worked with local bands so far. I've done 3 eps, 2 singles, and I'm currently working on a full length for my band because the first run was really shitty.

I hoping to quit my day job eventually and dive even further into this addiction. I'm here to learn as well as help in any way I can, even though I know it may not be much yet. I respect people's honesty, especially if I'm wrong about something and I get called out.

Let the knowledge soaking commence!!

When did I start?

I started to make Metal music at the age of 13.

Im into Producing/mixing since like this summer or sth like that. Did get my first set of crappy rokits back then. And I had an Alesis multimix 16 USB 2.0 :kickass:

My Studio:

Got a small room right next to mine at home. Built Wide range absorbers, measured the room nd stuff and got some decent gear, worked my ass off to make that money I spent.

Gear:

Motu 896 mk3 Hybrid, Adam A7Xs, Rokit RP5 G2s, Adam sub8, Shure SM7B, sennheiser e606, shure beta 56A, sm57, audix i5

some random midi controller from my local music store.

PC:

Core i7 3820 3,6 gHz
2 x samsung ssd's
1x WDD 1,5 TB
16GB DDR 3

Bands/Projects

I did some local stuff for some 1 or 2 man projects.
At the moment I am doing an Album production for a local Band.
Other than that, I killed time with mixing raw stems I found online.

Goals

I actually want to contribute to building up something like a local scene or something. Good local bands is something you will not find in germany. Frankly, there are very few good hardcore bands over the whole nation

Inspiration

Well when I first headed into a professional studio with my old band, I thought "This is what I want to do!" And well :D

Producers I like:

Taylor Larson
Lee McKinney
Metal Josh
Joey Sturgis (obviously, lol)

If you want to hear some of my stuff, have a listen :D

Since I've never done it, and considering I'd like to start hanging around here...

Name: Jean-Sébastien Beaulieu
Location: Montreal, QC (Canada)
Age: 22 (1990)

My studio: Had my little home studio back then, "Call to Arms Studio", but had to stop for various personal reasons. I have a Presonus Firestudio Project, and as mics, an AT4040 and a MXL V67i.
My bands/projects: Played as the keyboardist with two small bands who never played live nor put out anything plus with an industrial metal band (which I can't name, cause they kicked me out). Then started playing with Bloodshed by Reality (melodic deathcore) for a year and a half as keyboardist/co-vocalist before we split-up.
Main instruments: I am playing piano since I was 5 (I have a classical music background), and I learned guitar and bass by myself.

When did you start audio engineering: I started playing around with Cubase when I was 15. Loved it so much I took a 1 year intensive audio engineering degree then opened my little home studio.
Production experience: I produced some minor acts EPs/demos, nothing really great. I'm not so proud about half of them. I had some bad experiences, including incomplete projects by my fault... Anyway, I won't open another "studio" soon lol. I'll keep it easy and record some stuff by myself, then after we'll see.

Location: Arnhem, Netherlands.

Age: 30-12-1993, So I'm 19 now.

My studio: Just a simple home ''studio'', I don't have a name for it yet

My bands/projects: The Royal (My ex band). Going to have some other bands record here soon, Lost In Bermuda and Limitless. (Both unknown bands)

Main instruments: Guitar, Bass and a bit of Drums.

When did you start audio engineering: I started around mid September 2012 while I was in my ex band. No one knew anything about mixing/mastering or recording. I had already recorded some simple things for myself, but I didn't know much about it either, so I started looking things up. A while later I started noticing that I really enjoyed recording and sitting there while the other guys tracked their parts. So since then it pretty much started growing on me, and now I know that this is what I'd love to make a living out of (if possible).

Production experience: Not TOO much so far, but I'd love to become more experienced. The Royal - Origins EP (2012) is my only ''album-ish'' production experience.

If anyone has any raw stems, and a midi so I can make some drums, please let me know!!!

Websites: None except for Facebook.

When did you start audio engineering:

About 4-6 months ago, when my band and I tracked our lastest EP (New heights -available for free on band camp :p)
I decided that I would like to do this as well. I could do the basics but I wanted to become better so I started to watch videos on youtube on how to mix drum/bass etc just to have an idea then I started to mix it my way when I understood how every insteuments has its place in the mix

Production experience: like I said before 4-6 month, I mix my friend song about 3 months ago but it sounded like crap lol. I would sound so much beter now !

When did you start audio engineering: I started early 2003 just to record my own music, but very liked it. I spent almost 5 years at learning basics and trying to record myself and smallest local bands for free. Then I decided to turn my life into music production, and in 2008 I became a full-time mixing and mastering engineer.

Production experience: Since 2008 till now I produced more than 15 full-length albums and almost 30 EP's and singles. I worked with bands such as Abominable Putridity, Dead Silence Hides My Cries, Calmed By The Tides Of Rain, Aborted Fetus, Deviant Syndrome, Of Buried Hopes and many more. My works were released on the following labels: Amputated Vein Records (Japan), Comatose Music (USA), Brutal Bands (USA), MDD records (Germany), Fono Ltd (Rus), CD-maximum (Rus), Gigawatt Music (Rus), Mazzar Records (Rus), etc.

Name: Lukas Bergis
Location: Norrköping, Sweden/ Helsinki, Finland
Age: 1982

My studio: I'm too ashamed to put up a webpage for my studio. It's somewhere in Helsinki and I'll do a webpage once I have a few descent recordings to put up.
My bands/projects: I've studied music since I was 7yo. Maybe this band is worth mentioning: www.facebook.com/systemshock
Main instruments: Guitar, Keys/Piano, Vocals. I'm also into weird shit like music theory and writing scores.

When did you start audio engineering: I'm not sure I count as a sound engineer yet, I have very minor work experience in other people's studios but no audio engineering credits worth mentioning. However I have played as a musician in some well-known Swedish studios so I do know what a pro looks like (hint: not me!).
