Not sure how many of you either play this game or care, but there are 12 songs available Tuesday as down loadable content for Rock Band 2.

The songs:
"Aces High" (Live)
"2 Minutes to Midnight"
"The Trooper"
"Wasted Years"
"The Number of the Beast"
"Run to the Hills"
"Can I Play with Madness"
"The Clairvoyant"
"Powerslave"
"Fear of the Dark"
"Hallowed Be Thy Name"
"Iron Maiden" (Live)

I'm pretty excited about Hallowed Be Thy Name finally being in the game. Maybe my favorite song by anyone.

Also, there are supposedly 3 Anvil tracks coming:
"Metal on Metal"
"666"
"Thumb Hang"

Just as a discussion point, which songs would you like to see in RB? For me, maybe:
Pretty much any Blind Guardian song
Universal from Borknagar
40 to 1 from Sabaton
Pursuit of Vikings from Amon Amarth

A friend of mine has the Metallica version of guitar hero and it has some cool non-metallica stuff. I particularly enjoyed War Ensemble.

includes 3 live tracks from the recent SBIT tour. Here's the statement from the IM board.

IRON MAIDEN MASTER RECORDINGS MADE AVAILABLE AS DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT FOR ROCK BAND MUSIC STORE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Harmonix Music, MTV Games & Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that 12 tracks from Iron Maiden will be added June 9 to the Rock Band® Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and Wii.

Live recordings of "Aces High," "Hallowed Be Thy Name," "Fear of the Dark" and "Iron Maiden," featured on Flight 666, are among those available for download in the Rock Band Music Store June 9. The other 8 songs were amongst those featured on the band's Somewhere Back in Time World Tour during the first leg of which Flight 666 was filmed. This will mark the first time master recordings from Iron Maiden have been made available on Rock Band games.

"Metal fans have wanted this one for a long time, and we've answered them with some of the greatest Maiden songs, both live and recorded," said Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music for MTV. "Iron Maiden is one of the most successful and widely recognized metal bands of all time, with more than 75 million albums sold, and counting. We're very excited to offer these tracks, and we know fans will be thrilled."

"Fans have been asking us to do something with Rock Band for some time and this seemed to be a perfect opportunity," said Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. "Our recent Somewhere Back in Time tour was perhaps the most enjoyable one we have ever undertaken, and certainly the most successful with almost two million people catching the shows round the World. So it just seemed a good idea to make some of the songs we played available now so fans can play along with the band on the tour. Then we shall see if they can keep up with the band!"

(All tracks are original master recordings)

2 Minutes to Midnight - Powerslave (1984)
The Trooper - Piece of Mind (1983)

I haven't touched Rock Band in several months. Eventually I'll get back to playing it. I'm looking forward to the Beatles edition that's going to have the added harmonies.

I have been following this since it was announced a couple weeks ago and just downloaded and played them this afternoon. I agree with you, eppst1, and Hallowed Be Thy Name is probably my all-time fave song (although it can fluctuate from time to time - it's certainly in my top 3.) Sucks that you have to wait until Thursday, but it will be well worth it when it comes, trust me. However, if the wait just gets too unbearable, you could always run out and get a 360 this evening... ;)

Oh, and Jennifer - Assassin's Creed 2 will definitely be a day one purchase for me. I loved the first game despite some of its repetitiveness with the investigation missions, which didn't work well, but those have been removed in AC2. Ubisoft appears to have improved on everything in this game, and I can't wait to fly around Venice on DaVinci's flying contraption.

Me n' my hockey buddy/ co-worker have been watching the trailer a couple of times and the graphics alone made me want to go out n' buy a PS3... He still raves about AC 1....

I haven't seen much on another game - Imfamous - but what I have seen looks pretty interesting... (sorry to jump the track on the RB discussion)

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I just finished watching Flight 666. Holy crap! What a great movie. I highly recommend any one that is a fan of metal, or music in general, to watch this film. In my most humble opinion, there isn't a better band out there.

UP THE IRONS!

These were two I thought of immediately, actually. You win bonus "awesome" points for the Borknagar mention. A great song indeed, though I'd also like to see Witching Hour included.

Yes, that is a great documentary! My husband was able to get it shown on an actual movie screen here, it was so fun to watch it with 200 other metalheads!
