Iron Maiden: The Final Frontier

Unless the album is drastically better than El Dorado and Final Frontier, I'm not even bothering with it.

Those are actually probably the weakest songs on the record, it really does start to open up mid way through.

Bruce's voice isn't what it used to be, though.

It's just kind of sad that a band like Maiden has come to the point where the most positive thing you can say about their latest album is that it's "reasonable." Personally I would be perfectly happy if Maiden never set foot in a studio again and just toured till death (live is one place where they have not lost it at all, they are still absolute fucking legends). Although if they promise to turn out another Brave New World, they can churn out as many bland, average albums as they want.

I haven't listened to it since it came out and didn't really think much of it. not the first maiden album to do that for me. but like always I end up falling in love with it

Starblind is the only song that's great on its own merits and not just well-it-sucks-but-since-they're-old-and-MAIDEN-it's-still-cool type great. The intro, Mother of Mercy, Isle of Avalon, and The Talisman are decent/good but nothing better than what a hundred modern retro bands could do. Their ideas are so recycled at this point that they may as well be their own worship band.
