I enjoy priest too! it's really apples and oranges. But if I had to choose one, I'd go Maiden.

I dig alot of Priests older stuff...Beyond The Realms...Ripper , Sinner , Dissident Agressor...even some new stuff like Metal Meltdown , Painkiller ,Hellrider and Judas Rising.

That being said , both bands have their own style and have pefected it to a T , but , in my opinion , I think Maiden is more exciting live and Bruce has a better live voice compared to Halford.

Now , if we could get a Maiden , Priest , Motorhead , Dio and Anthrax tour............one can dream.

Both are awesome bands. But I have to go with Maiden. I have been a fan of them longer than I have been a Priest fan.

I like both, I was into Priest before I was into Maiden, but with Priest is closer to blues rock for me in that it could have been played stand alone sometimes... sort of, but it seems that Maiden guitars work more as overlay and transplant and one guitar alone seems incomplete. I love to play the hardest music I can, I also love to hold my guitar up real high like Glen Tipton does, cause it looks wicked, it says, I’m not effing around, and not only that it is more effective, and you can do some wicked squat and use that Tipton signature head banging, its like a drug when you’re using it to help the meter in your delivery, cause it’s all in the delivery. But Maiden use more chords and many chords with and details that have little distinctions but their songs are less formula structure and use a wider scope of variety.
