Is anyone down for a mixing contest?

I'm not sure the last time someone here did it, but how about we find some very reliable sources to get some AMAZING tones and have a mixing contest where no samples or vst instruments can be used...? A battle of the fader! I'd be more than willing to contribute. Someone can write a song (or we could do a cover) and have everyone here try to mix it. Anyone down?

Do the original tracks (non replaced, etc) sound really awesome? If so, it may really work.

Unfortunately not. We triggered the drums so the non replaced drum tones pretty much sound like 'pings'

I wouldn't mind doing drums for these, and I can get fairly decent sounds I think.

Only problem is atm I've only got one overhead and one snare mic. Getting a kick mic and 2nd OH soon but even if I do I won't have tom mics so they'll need to be samples.

Yeah, I think we need all real drums. I hope Lasse can maybe help us out, since his live tracked drums are ballin'.

Might be easiest to work on a cover then so we don't have to complicate things by having to write a song, as well as having to get all the stuff tracked.
