Is it bad to turn on and off interface?

Hey i've been wondering if its bad for my computer and or interface to shut it on and off wile my computer is still on... kinda like they say with iPods and how your supposed to eject them. The reason is im having some problems with cracking and overall unsteadyness while im running my interface(tascam us 1641). and wondering if it could be that or mabey driver issues(running win7??) thanks a lot

Check your interface's documentation. It's fine with my Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56, but with my Profire 2626 it would cause my Windows XP machine to completely shut down if I hit the power button.

Hmm i just looked through and didnt say anything in the manual about it. Theres no newer driver updates so i cant try that. Have any idea as to what else could cause this problem?

Email tascam about it, it's probably fine.

emerica - have you tried disabling your Network Adapters under Control Panel -> Device Manager?

I've used the same Tascam interface and I'm pretty sure any USB interface will cause this problem on my machine.

i havent tried that but im not running any usb network adapters if thats what your asking. im on a laptop
