What do you think?

We do have the awful stink of imperialism on us. Personally, all these Middle Eastern countries we have troops in and are supposidly protecting; many of them don't want us there, and even if we are protecting them, the fact remains if they don't want us there we shoudn't be there. If not wanted, it is extremely arrogant of us to stay.

Subjective question:

There are many layers to this "war" - from the global perspective down to each individual person.

The U.S. can be perceived a bully, as they make their prescence felt worldwide. And the individual protests by people who "believe" the western world ethics are against their beliefs believe we are bullies. Myself, as a U.S. citizen "believes" that our "intention" for global peace and democracy are there, although our execution has it's problems - probably because the U.S. is taking on something that no one can really handle because of the enormity of it all.

I stand behind the US, as I would expect the non US citizens here to stand behind their countries (unless they totally were against what their countries stand for). The U.S. acts on what they believe, and use their global power to achieve their goals. Of course there are countries who don't want us - but to me, part of that is they don't see the global balance countries like the U.S. are looking for.

I don't expect everyone here to agree with me - so I hope I don't spark some sort of arguement. I am one person, and this is my perspective on how the U.S. acts. I don't see them as bullies from the global sense, although in the execution, they do use bully tactics.

pay attention, or don't speak

Now now children, stop squabbling

Neway, on the USA thing, I don't think Bush had much choice. The majority of Americans seem to want immediate action, and he has to go with the majority really doesn't he? I think there could have been better ways of doing this than air strikes, but then many people would accuse Bush of doing nothing...

So I think it must be very difficult for Bush to do nething else, but lets face it, Afghanistan doesn't stand a chance, so I think the U.S is being a bully

There's actually a lot of people in this country that wish another solution was found or could be found.

But what else is there that could be done?

USA: "hand over bin Laden"

Afg: "no"

USA: "then we'll have to do it ourselves"

Afg: "you come in and we'll shoot you"

USA: "then we'll have to remove your ability to fight back"

...

USA: "if you hand over bin Laden now, we'll stop"

...

What else can we do? Sit here and wait for them to do more shit to us? If a known terrorist was hiding in this country, we wouldn't be protecting him. The fact that Afghanistan is siding with bin Laden is their own undoing.

If you go to somolia and ask an older woman who is just walking down the street, "would you want peace?" She will say, "ofcourse who would'nt!" But if you ask, "would you share power with another clan?" She will respond with "I'd rather die before letting that happen." My point is people dont want peace, they want power.

America is not a bully. We help so many countries out. we dont bomb people for no reason at all. people have to fuck with us first. we dont do shit unless someone screws with us. we cant just do nothing about these terrorist assholes. i cant stand people who are anti-american and defend these taliban sand my pals (sand my pals= terrorists, not all arabs so dont yell at me) we need to get rid of them cause they mean nothing but evil in this world.
Why cant we all just get along?

No, you have reason. For money, the resources their sitting on, or just to show that there is a lesson to be learnt when they want to be powerful like you.

No, don't worry, I'm not attacking you, but your government instead. They are all like that. Life is one big mall, you just have to know where to shop. We've been check out and our freedom is the cost. It's the man up top that bought us out.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of known terrorists hiding in the USA and UK, protected by their governments. This whole "war against terrorism" is just a masquerade for western military industry to get more profit by killing thousands of innocent people. Terrorism can never be defeated by use of force, as you Americans will certainly see very soon.

Poor you - you are blinded by the American propaganda. I'll give you two examples that show quite clearly, HOW you "help" other countries:

- USA helped Sadaam Hussein a lot during the eighties in Iraq - they gave him political and military support, so that he could kill and torture his own people. The USA did this for money. Iraqi army attacked then rather peaceful Iran killing thousands of innocents and Americans laughed at it. Then, a couple of years later it all changed: Hussein decided to attack against Kuwait. Whether or not this was suggested to him by CIA is still debatable. However, this time the American military industry suddenly withdrew their support and instead wanted to make profit by terrorizing Iraq. They bombarded Iraq with illegal munitions (that kill people even today) leaving the country savaged and thousands of innocent civilians dead. Then came the economic terror - more than a million innocent killed in ten years! And you still wonder, why an average Iraqian hates you?

- Nicaragua in eighties. Americans decided that they can't get enough profit from this poor country, because its leaders didn't accept the most unfair deals the Americans presented to them. American president Ronald Reagan decided that terrorism was to be used to punish the Nicaraguan government. CIA trained and armed thousands of Contra-guerillas to MURDER, RAPE AND TORTURE MORE THAN FIFTEEN THOUSAND INNOCENT PEOPLE! Reagan himself called these guerillas the moral idols of Americans.

There are dozens more of this kind of examples.

American military industry and CIA mean nothing but evil in this world and there can NEVER be peace in this world, unless these two institutions are eliminated! They have all the control of American foreign-policy and they use the presidents as their muppets. When a president becomes mad enough to resisit them, they shoot him.

It should be clear to all that America cannot claim moral superiority in their course of actions. Knowing full well that the majority of Afghans are completely innocent and largely ignorant of the doing of Al Qaeda, yet persisting in the bombardment of their lands and properties. Realizing that terrorism is fought by low technology, and the destruction of a few camps will do nothing to disable the offenders, but still waging a war that prevents aid from reaching the people who have never needed it more than now.
And they shamelessly tote the fact that they make food drops... to people that have nothing to cook it in, and soon will exhaust any fuel they have to cook it with.
I'm sure many of you have recieved the chain e-mails that are titled 'Bin Laden without his turban' that portray him with a penis on the top of his head. It might be funny, but it is propaganda too. It acts as a simple psychological tool that enables people villify their oponents in times of war. You see enough emails of this nature and you begin to see Bin Laden as being the cowboy with the black hat, and Bush as the cowboy with the white hat...

If anyone is familiar with the legend of King Arthur, they will remember his quest to discover if 'might is right.' The answer is was and always will be NO. The US can bomb the fuck out of Afganstan, impose a new system of values and government, and once again rule the world, but they will not be right. Just read any one of Satori's posts to remind yourself that righteousness is a very subjective, and manipulatable thing.
Whether they are 'right' in their actions or not, it appears that the US is going to do whatever the fuck it pleases. They will find a way to justify it to themselves, so we don't have to worry about them losing any sleep at night, either.
