They figured that if they released them years apart, even their fanboys would start complaining about having put out 5 identical albums in a row. Now they can get away with it by releasing them at once.

Actually it's a feeling of boredom and mild frustration at the wasted talent. MAYH is a good album imo though, and one I enjoy listening to now and then. You don't need me to make Opeth look bad, this forum does it well enough.

And by not ignoring people like him you're just feeding into their desires.
It's obvious these two new albums are not going to be the same in any way since one is taking the heavy traditional Opeth approach and the other is going to be a mellow prog/space rock album.

It's also quite obvious to anyone with the brains to really listen that MAYH, Still Life, and Blackwater Park are all very different and all amazingly good. I especially can't see anything similar between MAYH and either of the later two, but they all display plenty of maturation and they all get better, or progress.
