Is waves q10 any good? Because it's $9.

Anyone who doesn't use reaper should download this:

ReaPlugs are a pack of incredibly transparent plugins with absolutely no character, great for ultra surgical control over compression/eq/etc. I do have Q10 but I still prefer ReaEQ to it, it seems to be more precise and it allows you to easily add/remove bands.

How is Reaper's EQ not as good if you're doing just cuts and not boosts? I'm assuming that due to the responses

Actually, I'd dare say cockos' reaeq is on par with Q10 or even better in some aspects. There's little competition when it comes to digital EQs as you only want something as transparent as possible, though I can see why people have different opinions when it comes to coloration/analogue modeling. Also, reaeq lets you add and delete as many bands as you want.

ReaEQ doesn't support RTAS/AAX, which is why a lot of people don't use it. Personally, I LOVE ReaEQ, especially since they added the spectral analysis to it. The fact that it's not limited to a certain amount of points is great, too - I find it very frustrating when I think a 4 band EQ might do the trick on a track, and save me some CPU power, then I go back later only to find that I need and extra band, and now have to enter all my settings from the 4 band into the new one - But I'm sure no PT support certainly kills it for some.

I've used (demod) Q10 and ReaEQ and both are excellent at what they do. For surgical cuts I couldn't imagine needing something else than ReaEQ, and it has become my go-to plugin for that task. What is somewhat nicer about Q10, IIRC, is that it adapts its Q to the size of the cut or boost, making it feel a bit more natural on quick decisions. And even though it has limited bands, 10 bands is still more than I usually need.

For $9 I don't think you could go wrong if you need a good surgical EQ.

I like reaeq for basic EQing (filtering/gentle use) but for surgical EQ discovered a whole new world with EQuality. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I just cannot get ReaEQ to remove the ring out of a snare an efficient way. I thought I was deaf or something, until I bought EQuality, and could immediately remove any ringing frequency and hear an absolute change right away, with no effort (staying in Digital mode). I would copy the settings in ReaEQ, and it just wouldn't work. I don't know if it's because ReaEQ has its limits, or on the contrary that it is only the mathematical equation of an equalizer strictly speaking which makes it too transparent or something, but my bet is that it's worth trying it for 9 bucks because in my own experience ReaEQ has its limits and one might discover new possibilities with another digital EQ

I don't think I've ever used a Waves "Q" EQ EVER.

+1 for eQuality. always my go-to when I want to notch out bullshit....

it's also a great filter and the different eq modes ruleeeeeee
