ISP DECIMATOR Pedal?

The Decimator is really best used in the FX loop. You won't get much of an improvement just using it in front of a POD. If anything I use the POD analog outs and put the decimator after the pod.
that's a bit of a mismatch. and trust me, you will hear a huge difference using it on the front end.

Well, I may be wrong - I've never used my Decimator in front of an amp sim. I figured the noise they are wanting tamed is the result from the pod itself - cause I can't imagine a guitar being awfully noisy with just a pod.

I have VHT deliverance that has no FX loop and the decimator has little affect used in front - where as it silences my 6505+ on the drop of a dime through the fx loop. Amazing little pedal though.

I want to buy a ISP decimator only to cut the feedback when I play at high voume with mi Peavey 5150. Where does this pedal work better for this function?

- IN FRONT of the amp?
- FX LOOP?

If I works better in front of the amp, Which is the correct chain?

1 - guitar --> maxon OD808 --> ISP decimator --> amp
2 - guitar --> ISP decimator --> maxon OD808 --> amp

And It will affect to the sound or is it totally transparent?

FX Loop is best. And as long as your don't crank the threshold so high, you should not notice any sound - just the beloved lack of noise.

I use mine in front to stop feedback. I also use it in front of my OD808. If it's after the OD808 it brings out lots of high end. Just play with positions and your ear will tell ya where to put it. I A-B'd the Boss and ISP and the Boss took top end off where the ISP didn't. Yes I tried it both in the effects loop and in front and although the pedals act differently in the loop then they do in front the overall results are the same. ISP FTW!

I think I may have read somewhere that the Decimator was designed by some dudes that helped design the Hush noise reduction pedal. Does it work in a similar way to the Hush pedal?

I like the gate effect that the Ns-2 has which helps clean up my extremely sloppy playing. :goggly: The hush pedal seemed to help tame a bit of amp noise when used in the fx loop, but other than that I didn't find it very useful compared to the Ns-2 for my use. I'm sure the Decimator is assloads better than the hush, but does it work in a similar way, or is it more like a gate?

c i was gona buy the decimator to use after my maxon overdrive to clean up the distortion...and then use gearbox gold/pod farm platinum for the amp and everything else...

ZP, you got it right... it's great right after a TS. guru, seriously it shouldn't be before your OD808, you really need to put it after... i mean, do whatever you want, it's your rig, but that's kind of like putting the wax on your car before you wash it. if it's hurting your high end you either have a bad unit or something else wrong. i'd never set it higher than about 11:00 though. the pedal does suck batteries pretty quick, compared to say a tube screamer... and when it starts dying it definitely adversely affects the sound quality. maybe you need fresh batteries more often, or a power supply?

either way, it's a noise reduction pedal.... you put it after the noisy stuff..... like OD808's. c'mon now, this ain't rocket surgery.

Murphy-whos talking about rockets? I prefer sparklers lol...i just didnt know if it would kill the tone as well. ive read that the bos ns2 pedal is a tone killer...

Thats my only complaint about the one I am borrowing.

Luckily over here Woolworths was closing down.... 50% off cheap ass batteries so I went and bought like 10, it cost me less than a 5'er :):)

The credit cruch isn't all bad :)

well that wasn't directed at you, lol, more to the guy putting his NR before his noisiest pedal. anyway, the ISP doesn't kill tone at all until the battery starts to die, which is safe to say about any pedal... it just uses batteries a bit faster than most OD pedals. the Boss NS pedals do suck tone though in my experience. again, i recommend ISP settings no higher than 11:00 o'clock.

yes, you can use an AC adapter, no it doesn't come with it. i always just use batteries... less chance for noise from dirty AC or ground loops to enter or accumulate in your rig with battery.... but for band or personal practice/rehearsal, i'd just use the adapter.

all of the mentioned pedals are noise gates. the hush and the ns2 should get similar results if used properly. they are both noise gates. for best results, a gate is used before the amp, and in the loop. im sure most rigs ive seen in the back page of guitar world have 2 gates.

does anyone know if the jsx built in gate is before the amp, or in the loop? i`ve had good results using jsx noise gate and a ns2 before the amp. i was under the impression it was in the loop.

my buddy has a hush rack that he uses in the loop, and has a ns2 before the amp. works great! can def hear the diff. when u remove one of the gates.

also, ive had good results with a shitty $30 beringher noise gate

my 2 cents

My chain goes as follows:

Guitar -> Maxon OD-9 -> ISP Decimator -> Splawn Quick Rod. Cleans all of the noise and sounds fantastic. The thing I love about this pedal is that it eliminates unwanted noise but still retains controlled feedback at higher volumes. Awesome pedal!

I think I remember seeing that it is after the loop, before the phase inverter. At least that is where the fixed one in the XXX was....
