ISP DECIMATOR Pedal?

I run both the ns2 and the decimator. I run a presonus eq3b into a ge 7 into a maxon 808 (and a hbe uno-mos at times) and they are looped into the loop function of the ns2 which goes into the front of the amp. With the ns 2 of I get squeals and all sorts of narly crap going into the amp, but with it turned on it takes away the noise of the pedals completely.

After that I place a decimator in the fx loop and with it off I have that peavey hum, so when I engage the decimator, it takes the hum away completely.

So ns2 to quiet down the noisey pedal and the decimator to quiet down the amp hum.

At jamming volumes my rig is completely silent until I hit a note. I often have friends over to jam and they are quite amazed at how silent the amp is. We will be talking (no noise in the back ground) and I have the volume on my 6505+ on 3.5,(works just as well with my XXX and 5150) I coax them over to the amp and without warning, pump out a low B and they proceed to shit themselves. Maybe an expensive way to get laughs but both together are well worth it, especially for live situations. :kickass:

I use a Decimator ProRack G and it's unbeatable, the best noise gate unit on the market without a doubt. Removes noise from the guitar AND from the preamp triggered by the guitar input.

Hey Brett, I am seriously considering one of the rack versions, but my only quarm here is that there are f#$k all here in Australia. I managed to track down one retailer and they are asking $999.00 here!

The ns2 is $115 here and I bought the decimator pedal for $125 second hand here.

So I was wondering if you have had experience using one or the other, or both and if so, is it worth shelling over $700 odd more for the rack version.

Cheers!

does anyone know if the jsx built in gate is before the amp, or in the loop? i`ve had good results using jsx noise gate and a ns2 before the amp. i was under the impression it was in the loop.

According to the block diagram in the manual, the noise gate is part of the Crunch and Ultra channels at the preamp level:

Input > Tube Stage > Switch Logic > Fat Switch > Tube Stages > Noise Gate > Channel Volume > EQ > Switch Logic > Loop > Tube Stage > Master Volume etc.

how do you like the presonus eq? looks neat!

Absolutely love it mate. Found a pic of Exodus live rig at RIG TALK I think and Gary said he used it on the new record. Had to have one! Took down the settings on the pic and it has been nothing but excellent! Looks good to!

P.S Take hold of a new HBE Gary Holt Doomday Device pedal sometime this week, will let yas know how it sounds in front of the 3 amps!

Thanks for the heads up to Brett. Will look into the G-String mate, probably to much as well here in Oz as the pedal alone is $339.00:waah:
