Good on you! Cats are much more social than people believe. They have wants, needs, and anger management issues. The responsibility to NOT get a pet for which one is not equipped is as epic as properly caring for one.

My Islay is so loving and needing of attention.... She is like Shrike but in cat-form. On any given moment I have 4 pairs of eyes and 8 legs who follow me around everywhere. She never wants to sleep alone either.. always with us in whatever room we're in.
(as we speak, she is in my lap while doggie in by my feet)
Some cats are definitely loners, but most of them- are extremely social.
