It's that time... your best albums of 2006

I fail to see what is so reputation worthy in metalskater7 mindless ramblings that you have decided to rep him twice. In fact, he has not even posted his list of best albums of 2006 in this thread, yet mocks and ridicules other people choices, goes to show that he lives up to his "bumptious and arrogant" tittle.

He thinks everyone needs to listen to bands like Angra, Rhapsody, Dragonforce, Kamelot, etc so that they can be cool like him.

Pffffffffffffff! Grow the fuck up!

I have right next to me several CDs by those bands (with the exception of Dragonforce) and I listen to them every once in a while, not as much as I used to a few years ago. That was before you even decided to register in this board. And I dare to bet that you weren't into those bands back then.

You're a Moron. It was a joke. Your negative repping is killing babies with jaundice.

It's not so much the Bodom kid elitists, it's the 28yr old guys with ARE YOU DEAD YET? shirts who run around thinking they are *true* metal, that I worry about. :)
How could any 28 year old listen to that shit album? I don't even know how anyone half that age could listen to it.

Somebody has to be rude in order for you to know that you are gentle. Otherwise you would have no point of reference.

:Smokin:
Awww, yeah, I get called gentle a lot. In fact, that's how horny girls get my shirt off.

I actually liked it.

I loved Starless Aeon (got it on a sampler from The End), and bought it based on how good that track was... most of it was just mid-paced, boring melo-death, and the lyrics irked me a lot. Jail was not good to Jon's brain, I think.

I didn't think Reinkaos was as bad as everyone made it out to be, but it wasn't such a strong album. A lot of it sounded like a rehash of the music from Clayman, but not as good.
I will say that as cheesy and silly as a lot of it was, the music was played with a lot of feeling and conviction (no pun intended).

from reading reviews, I get the impression that it should find its appeal mostly to fans of (by now) generic worn-out melodic death metal, but if someone was looking for something like dissection's earlier albums they'd be sorely disappointed.

That said, I haven't heard it because I heard thusly that it's crap.

Listen for yourself, don't allow ratings and reviews to distort your perception on the album without giving it a listen! You of all people should know that

Half the stuff I like none of the rest of you do.

And what's funny is DT's "Projector" got shit reviews when it came out, but I love it.

It is unlikely that anything will come out to change this updated top album list (but you never know) so here is the final listing in an actual order:

Napalm Death "Smear Campaign"
Wolves In the Throne Room "A Diadem of Twelve Stars"
Negura Bunget "OM"
Unleashed "Midvinterblot"
Drudhk "Blood In Our Wells"
Sunn O)))/Boris "Altar"
Necrophobic "Hrimthursum"
Current 93 "Black Ships Ate The Sky"
Nachtmystium "Instinct/Decay"
Iron Maiden "A Matter of Life and Death"
Blind Guardian "A Twist In the Myth"
Agalloch "Ashes Against the Grain"

Edit:
I am not including Melechesh "Emmisaries" because the official US release is not until January.
