I agree with you. Monotheist was too drone-like and Reinkaos was a bit too hokey with the "Chaos end this world" theme in just about every song.

I just reviewed the new Seventh Wonder album at LivingForMetal. Easily one of my favorite prog albums out there. It's very hard to find an album that is so complex/technical but so catchy. I think of them as Vox Tempus meets Asia.

Hammers of Misfortune - The Locust Years: contains perhaps the two greatest songs of the year: Trot out the Dead and the title track, but the rest of the album doesn't reach these peaks

War Anthem SO does.
But yeah, John seemed to have a lack of direction for the album.

I only bothered with the important bands this year (maiden, guardian, HOM) which always release quality. (you can disagree and be wrong, I do not mind and will ignore you)
I am checking out just about everyone's reccs except fags that mention papa roach (wtf?) and Matt.
