It's that time... your best albums of 2006

new MDB.... new IE... and hmmm....

i guess because i haven't heard a lot of new stuff this year, and can't think of much else... i'll say new Lamb of God is pretty good

i'm looking forward to the new Killswitch Engage... even though a lot of you don't like them

#1: Drudkh - Blood in Our Wells
#2: Wolves in the Throne Room - Diadem of 12 Stars
#3: Sodom - Sodom

Is where it stands right now.

Fine, here's my list this far, in vague order

Napalm Death- Smear Campaign
Drudhk- Blood In Our Wells
Wolves In the Throne Room- A Diadem of Twelve Stars
Negura Bunget - OM
Sunn O)))/Boris - Altar
Current 93 - Black Ships Ate The Sky (damn you Matt for introducing me this band)
Nachtmystium- Instinct/Decay
Iron Maiden- A Matter of Life and Death
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Hammers of Misfortune- The Locust Years

Though to be fair, I've spent a lot more of this year catching up on classics.

The Wolves in the Throne Room record was immense, I got that just last week actually.

I also aquainted myself with the Melvins and their Pigs of the Roman Empire album, which lead to Derick telling me to get (a) senile album - and that (after just a single day!) is on the 2006 list.

My favorite so far is definitely:
Summoning - Oath Bound

Runner Ups (Somewhat in order)
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Amon Amarth - With Oden on Our Side
Enslaved - Ruun
Devin Townsend - Synchestra
Ihsahn - The Adversary

I thought the new Satyricon was a let down and I just listened to the new Into Eternity yesterday, so I can't really comment on it (but so far it seems like it's going to be pretty high up on the list).

Korpiklaani - Tales Along This Road
Green Carnation - Acoustic Verses
Slayer - Christ Illusion
Kalmah - The Black Waltz
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Hammers of Misfortune - The Locust Years
DragonForce - Inhuman Rampage
Misery Index - Discordia
Into Eternity - The Scattering Of Ashes
Insomnium - Above The Weeping World (even though it sounds exactly like Dark Tranquillity)
Voivod - Katorz

And I'm sure the new Arsis will wiggle its way up to the top 3.
