I've never heard a more disastrous Maiden album! Its not as bad as NPFTD or FOTD but unlike those two, this one doesn't have a single memorable song on it!! I was laughing when I heard the chorus to Montsegur! It was ridiculous beyond belief! Pashendale and Journeyman are the only two songs worth listening to a second time and those two aren't strong either. And those songs were written by the classic Smith/Harris team. :( Dance of death was horrible with those dumb cheesy keyboards, it sounded a crap version of Blackmore's Night. Rainmaker and No more lies are so substandard, I can't understand how anyone could like it. I can come up with dozens of songs like that. Plus Bruce doesn't sound good for some reason. I actually think Journeyman needed someone like Blaze, someone with a deeper voice. Crap, crap and crap! That's all it is. I just wish Maiden would disband.
 
I have listened to it once and I have to agree. It's even worse than BNW.... I didn't think it could be possible. First of all, the production SUCKS DICK. Kevin Shirley should be shot in the back of his head.... he has no idea how Maiden should sound like. Has he ever listened to POM and NOTB? Or maybe he's just a deaf retard.
And yes, the chorus to Montsegur is LAUGHABLE... is this all they could think of? pathetic.
The album doesn't have even one strong song. Few listenable songs, few throwaways and few totally BAD and UGLY tracks.
 
I don't know. With Maiden I don't need to let it grow on me, its never something completely different, so I get it pretty quick. Right now I'm not actually worried about getting used to the album. What bothers me is the sheer tastelessness in different parts. That chorus for Montsegur, I mean seriously. The guitar parts were also just comedic. And the serious lack of ideas shows in how they gave the song the traditional Maiden ending to the song as in Hallowed be thy name.
 
I think it's pretty good. Though the cheese factor is higher than it's ever been. And I thought the cover had to be a joke. Sometimes I wonder if THEY think this whole things is a joke.

You are the dumbest fucking morons in all creation! Maiden puts out an utterly shit piece of garbage but you lap it up with cries of "OMG WTF MIADNE RULEZ!!!!!" When you will you thick headed mules wake up and realise Maiden are turning to shit?

Look my friend, no one is nterested in your rude comments. You can put as you want, you cannot expect the 80s albums in DOD, but it is reasonably good. Now, maybe you should pack your shit and leave the forum if you do not like it. As far as I am concerned arse holes like you can go, fuck off and die, for me and everyone here loves Maiden and not everyone shares the same opinion as you, so keep your bull shit for yourself. Even if Maiden have a bad album, it will not make us to go and listen to some other shit. You just have to walk it off.

Well it sounds a little uplifting when i hear the first couple of songs while i'm driving.
Nicko's song for me is the best one of the album and maybe Age Of Innocence(as long as i don't mind the lyrics).

But nothing is classic or memorable.

That's it. I don't know if I have the courage to put that disc back into the player ever again, only time will tell.

I'm not planning on listening to it myself anytime soon. Most of the so called melodies are still fresh in mind and I don't want to hear them.
