i've decided to devote my life to the lord

I find it absolutely incredulous for Christians to try and compete with science in order to better affirm their religion.

The 6000 year old earth theory cannot be revamped for the age, Religion doesn't just remake rules and regulations based on the age. If you're going to believe in the bible, who gives you the right to pick and choose what to believe?

Seriously, have you ever read some of that shit? It's actually a sin to not dig a hole one foot deep and shit in it when you need to poop.

GOING TO THE BATHROOM IS A SIN!

My advise for Atheists: Read the bible
My advise for Christians: Stop reading the bible. (Exception: Fundamentalist Christians, actually read the fucking thing for once, not just little snippets out of context that help your narrow view)

i've started to agree with david on that... regretting starting this thread now and realizing that it was just in bad taste and also you really can't discuss religion or politics with people, even good friends, as i already learned long ago.

this thread was more or less sarcastic, but brought upon by one of these late night depressive mood swings i tend to have where all i can do is obsess over the complete lack of goals and potential in my life. crappy jobs, crappy car, being pressured to go back to college but i know it'd be pointless, i see no point in even trying to write anymore, i've fallen out of contact with people that i was closer than family with five years ago, i'm 20 years old and still as awkward as i was when i was 13 and feel like a squirming, heaving ugly mess when standing next to the confident and attractive girls i work with and i don't know how the fuck i can change that and i'm also just blatantly incompetent - i just kinda think about this shit and freak the fuck out.

and so i'm entertaining the idea that something about me needs to change... i think about different clothes, make-up, listening to different music, watching different movies and religion kinda make it onto that list as i think about the religious people i know and, besides the ever-present guilt that goes along with the whole deal, most of them seem to have this happiness and purpose they don't question. i was only thinking about "getting religion" for a few seconds as i then realized that i'd never be able to believe in God (any god, though i've always been fascinated by religion and mythology in the literary and aesthetic sense) and so trying to become a christian/catholic/lutheren/espiscopalian/methodist just for the sake of ... security? would only be outright disrespect to people who genuinely have faith.

so yeah... that's me talking about stuff that i am vastly uncomfortable sharing so you guys should stop arguing about the most pointless thing to argue about.

the 6000 year thing is not in the bible, some theologian, whose name escapes me, pieced that together during the Renaissance.

edit: Let me clarify that I don't believe in god, I just dislike the standard ignorance of most atheists, just as much as I do that of Christians. Well, maybe not as much.

You can if they're on the same boat. Which all but one are, and he's close enough I leave him alone.

I don't think the discussion is redundant. I like it. Of course there won't be a common sense even after arguing for a lifetime. But that doesn't matter. Views on spirituality and religions just tell so much about the person behind the opinion. I find it rather invigorating than frustrating or pointless.

Agreed, I find this discussion interesting.

Stop that, I'm hungry and only have pizza not steak. :(

Suurriously, I'm not a big fan of debating in general, much less about religion or politics because I don't know everything. I can argue Star Wars better than either of those...

I'm curious to see how I may effect people's view on the stereotypical Christian. Some people here express the view that a Christian appears to have a lack in judgement, intelligence, reason, thought, etc. However, ya'll still talk to me and may agree that I'm quite intelligent given my topics of choice. RIGHT?! No one has said they wouldn't wanna chill out with me based on my religious views and those that have hung out with me haven't made a point of not wanting to again.

Annnnd I'm pretty sure I've started to rabble. Awesomekthnxbye.
