True story.

The interesting thing is that I look for the same thing in electronic music as I do in metal - a solid and fat groove with some garnering on top of it in different forms. It can be a brutal groove with some really harmonic/atmospheric things on top or it can be something entirely different but it still has to have that awesome foundation. The same thing is what I look for in metal all the time which is why "djent" music is high up in my list because of the heavy foundation with atmospheric shit on top.

So it turns out that I can find the same enjoyment in electronic music as I can in metal, and I really mean the same "feeling". Electronic music can be just as "brutal" as the br00tz metal. It's all in your head.

Right now I don't feel like working on my album anymore because of two things: a) no vocals b) this new discovery.
I might explore the electronic world instead, I don't know. I would like to finish my album though, fucking god damn vocals!

What happened with Gareth? Weren't you two in talks about that?

Gareth is quite possibly the least reliable motherfucker on the planet, is probably the answer to that question

slowly (i mean slowly) writing lyrics
speed was never my strong point

and on topic: i find i can only listen to electronic music while tripping, then it makes perfect sense and makes me wanna dance like a motherfucker

Totally relate Erkan! To me , my other "metal" ;) is old school industrial/EBM. Essentially electronic music with a few to vast amounts of guitars/live elements thrown in. Whatever grooves or moves me (emotionally) is my standard of music.

Also, I love 85-95 "sound"

Do you have an example of this "french house" you think would be interesting?

Ah, I see... For some reason I thought you were supposed to just provide the voice.

Certain kind of electronic music has been my "guilty pleasure" for years. Probably stems from the fact that my cousin used to live in Stockholm and when he was here on holiday he brought me tapes of some of his favourite music. Some of those early to mid nineties techno/trance/house/whatever hits and "hits" have been burned to my brain forever...

NP: Westbam - Celebration Generation

Btw, if anyone knows what song is in the very end of this podcast, please tell, it's been bugging me whole last week! http://download.2600.com/mediadownl...files/broadband/off_the_hook__20101215-64.mp3

You got it bro! :) I liked that but I constantly wanted lower frequencies in the mix. If the kick was fatter that stuff would've been awesome. Seems like I have enough opinions about this to start making my own... hmm, we'll see ;)

Well yeah but I mean, it's taking time and nothing is certain and I'm not sure about anything.

@Erkan: Give us some names you liked to check out.

Sure! I haven't discovered very much yet but I have a few favorites already:

French sure is a hot language when sung by a girl ;)

This one is immensely badass!! Make sure you listen at least 2 minutes from the beginning to get the hang of it. I love the dynamics - the silence between the beats with the crazy disharmonic synth.

And of course Uffie. Gotta love her fucking attitude. Produced by Oizo I think.

And for last for now, Daft Punk. Fast forward to 0:45 where the song actually starts in this crap video. When the song really starts and it's pumping it's like... aaaaaaaawww fuck yeah! Been blasting this shit for the last few days through my speakers.
