I've found my calling

Oooooooohhhhhhhhhh. I ain't taking sides with nobody, but here's the thing...

Just focus on the idea of God. If there is a God in your life, define who that God is and don't let others. The whole idea of God is to give you a sense of living and motivation and hapiness. Everyone has their own interpretations of God. As WD says in "This Godless Endeavor"
"Can we agree to disagree on the concept of God?"
Let everyone have their own way of defining their own God so they can live happy. You might not be happy with it, but so what? You have your God (hopefully) and that's what matters.

Now for the prophets and everything like that....fuck it they are just human beings like us. Nothing special.

And for the extremists (not you Jace) go preach what you believe in front of the mirror and see how ridiculous your life is.

3. & 4. No where in the Bible is it a sin to seek scientific evidence.

1 Corinthians 1:19 For I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Hello.

NIV:

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[c]

20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."[d]

The whole point of that passage is not as you wish to make it. First, wisdom is not the same as knowledge and thus not the same as science. The scholar in verse 20 NIV is called the scribe in the King James. A scribe at that time isn't the same as our scholar today (a teacher, seeker of knowledge) but rather the teacher of laws and accounts, dictating what was right and wrong, just and moral, translating texts. Second, the "wisdom of the wise" and the "understanding of the prudent" (and later the Greeks(Gentiles) and Jews) is what's being discussed; their views on wisdom being how they preceive a savior or god to be which don't line up with Jesus Christ. It's also addressing "worldly" wisdom. As I'm sure we can agree on, even back then, what the world considers just and right wasn't always the same as how God laid it out. That is the wisdom being discussed. The foolishness in verse 20 is to show an opposite to the world's wisdom rather than literal foolishness and idiocy.

The overall point I'm trying to make is that while you seem to have used these passages to show that Christians should be ignorant and stupid the passages are really meant to show that God wants to protect us from the wordly teachings NOT from logic, science, etc. Therefore, my previous post still stands. To seek knowledge and explanations is not a sin. To seek false wisdom of what is right and wrong, moralistically and spiritually is.

My dear Cap'n, you made me question what I believe and what is written in the Bible. You forced me to research and study. For that, thanks.

I was not implying you should all be ignorant. I was showing that it *was* frowned upon to question the lord and one's faith throughout the book. There are also many passages making positive pushes toward wisdom and intelligence, it all depended upon the mood of the man writing it all down, in the end.

Wisdom is accumulated knowledge and how it is applied.

Won't even bother to read the rest of the passage.

wis·dom /ˈwɪzdəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[wiz-duhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight.
2. scholarly knowledge or learning: the wisdom of the schools.

knowl·edge /ˈnɒlɪdʒ/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[nol-ij] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition: knowledge of many things.
2. familiarity or conversance, as with a particular subject or branch of learning: A knowledge of accounting was necessary for the job.
3. acquaintance or familiarity gained by sight, experience, or report: a knowledge of human nature.

I don't see your definition.

# S: (n) wisdom (accumulated knowledge or erudition or enlightenment)
# S: (n) wisdom, wiseness (the trait of utilizing knowledge and experience with common sense and insight)
# S: (n) wisdom, sapience (ability to apply knowledge or experience or understanding or common sense and insight)
# S: (n) wisdom, wiseness, soundness (the quality of being prudent and sensible)
# S: (n) Wisdom of Solomon, Wisdom (an Apocryphal book consisting mainly of a meditation on wisdom; although ascribed to Solomon it was probably written in the first century BC)

More or less, Wisdom is that of using your gained knowledge in the right manner. So a statement like "Wisdom is irrelevant to knowledge" is unwise.

Questioning the Lord, I can understand being frowned upon. As it's not the same as being skeptic of somebody's (pastor/Bible) teachings.

Lol, that last part forced an image of grumpy old men trying to right a happy poem... I need to go to bed!
