So, i got sick of fixing my triaxis and i just brought home a PODxt ver1.02.

Does anyone care about the ver2 update?

found an old post from Diabolic5150 and i'm gonna try his settings to get a starting point.

I'm running into a mesa 2:90 and a marshall 4x12 with jensen speakers. there's a LOT more treble than i'd like and the tone controls don't have a very large sweep. But it's only been 3 hours since i hooked it up.

V2 fixes a lot of the tone issues and adds a nice semi parametric EQ you can sweep until your hearts content. GET V2 now!!! it's free.

One inportant note you need to change the output format of your POD XT to 4x12 cab if you just plug it in and go it is in Studio Direct setting and it will sound like ass through the 4x12. After you do that then...

Basically I can dial in the settings I would normally use my 5150 on into the POD XT v2. Then tweak the EQ to compensate for POD XT fizz and lack of resonance control. Then plug it into the effects loop return on my 5150 and A/B (plug the guitar into the POD then unplug the POD from the effects loop and plug the guitar directly into the 5150 input) and get it damn close.

Keep in mind that the tone setting I posted might not sound that great when you're just playing by yourself (it's a really low gain setting). When you layer 4 guitar tracks it starts to sound heavy. A lot of people thought that setting sucked because of that (they just didn't use it right). Anyway, I use old school black and white Duncan pickups in a vintage Dean Baby Z neckthrough. They're pretty cold pickups, but they record awesome. That had a lot to do with it.

You have to do all the updates.. it makes a difference.

I should fire up my POD..They're fun to mess with. Havn't used it sice I bought my Warhead stack.

The first one. I love it. Got the matching cabs too. One 4x12 and the 2x15. MEAT!

Yeah the v2 makes the POD usable....EDM--what EQ settings are you using for the POD 5150 sound? I can't seem to get it right, seems like too much high end...also what cab setting? I've been using the v30s...

Well it depends I was refering to the tone I use when I plug the POD directly into the power amp of my 5150 (effects return, guitar plugged right into the POD input). When I play into the audio interface direct it is a different story here is the breakdown.

POD XT v2 Studio Direct tone 5150: Set With RG620X EMG 85 at Bridge

Criminal Head:
Drive at 12 O'clock
Bass at 5 O'clock
Mid at 1 O'Clock (I like mids if you don't set at 11 O'Clock)
Treb at 12 O'Clock
Pres at 12 O'Clock
Vol at 2 O'Clock

Mesa Cab
57 on axis 5%

EQ:
-1.7DB at 3.4k

POD XT v2 Live 5150 tone:
Used my Les Paul Custom with a 500T in the bridge.
Plugged into the POD XT input plugged left output into the effects return.

No mic and No cab, set POD XT to dest 4x12 (hold down tune turn select knob, then turn effect tweak to select the 4x12)

Criminal Head:
Drive 12 O'Clock
Bass full On (5 O'clock)
Mid 2 O'Clock (again I like mids dial to taste)
Treb 11 O'Clock (like you said to much high end)
Pres 12 O'Clock
Vol 2 O'Clock

EQ (THis is tricky cause the power amp of the 5150 routes around the EQ and gain sections but still alows you to adjust the Resonance and Presence)

POD XT EQ

-10.4 at 180h (sounds crazy huh read on you'll see)
+1.8 at 1.1k
-3.0 at 3.1K

On the 5150 I set the Resonance at 9 (this is were I get the bottom end you will see I cut it out of the POD XT EQ) Presence at 5 (I use this to bring in the tube sparkle instead of the POD XT fizz I cut in the EQ)

Oh yeah, as a side note. I do not use my POD XT live. I only wanted to see if I could get the 5150 Patch to sound close to the 5150 red channel when played trough an amp. Would be silly to use the POD XT to emulate a 5150 while playing it through a 5150 ha ha
