Seriously, I don't even know what to think about guitar player who play in a band. Because, they always have to make choices. Sometimes, you hear a guitarist and you think this guy has a lot of potential but don't use it much. Probably for many reasons: to make music that's catchy, easy to listen to, fun / laziness / is just fine with that / the other musicians from the band aren't as good so he's not stimulated to challenge himself etc...

No Alexi solo is beyond Jari imo. There is nothing special about the Downright Dominate solo which makes it any more complex than most of the solos from Blooddrunk. Plus Sinergy solos are also no where near any Wintersun solos.

Think that depends on which technique you're better at.

Well... I can also play every COB solo and I think I can play nearly all or maybe all Sinergy solos when I practise them enough but I have tried this fucking DD solos...no chance.
For me it is one of the most complicated solos I've ever heard (the first one) and definitely the best.
And about Jari... maybe he's a better guitarist - I can't tell - but his songs and solos are boring as hell. When I listen to some COB songs I can listen to them over and over again but the complete Wintersun album is so fucking unintersting... their is no riff or solo or whatever where I could say "Fuck! This is awesome!"
And plz... the solos from Wintersun, BTDS or DATH or any other song are not more than tricky.

And Alexi is definitely the better songwriter. This is where Lari fails

I've watched a few live songs from Wintersun.
1. Their sounds is crap.
2. All songs excist of nothing more than simple but fast picking parts. I've mentioned it before - there is no good riff in any of the songs.
3. All solos excist of nothing more than sweeps and simple fast picking scales. The solos are just fast and long, thats all - their is nothing complicated in it.
4. They use a BT for the keys.
5. Have I mentioned that their is nothing special in the playing?

And I won't say that Jari is better than Alexi or Alexi better than Jari (based on their guitar skills) cause 1. Wintersun and COB are two different bands with 2 different styles and 2. nobody can tell if Jari is able to play ALexis solos or if Alexi can play Jaris (but for me Alexi has the better technique and Jari is just fast)

It's an endless argument. There is not ONE thing he said that is a fact. All of it is opinion, so how can anything anyone says in here justify who is better? The most you can do is say your's, but trying to change others. That's just downright ignorant, so why even bother? Agreed. In short like I said: Both know how to use the axe well but Alexi knows better what to do with it. Plus he knows how 5 instruments + vocals make awesome music together, so, end of story.

I gave a try to Wintersun some time ago but it didn't interest me. It's just shredding. Maybe I'd like to watch close up Jari play his guitar but they will never be anything like COB.

Also you cannot compare there live sound to Bodom when there is like 1 moderate quality video of Wintersun live online. The only reason they use a BT for keys is because they haven't a found a keyboard player yet. Plus that has aboslutely nothing to do with Jari vs Alexi thats just CoB vs Wintersun. (in which case I would vote for CoB ofc) Plus CoB are much bigger than Wintersun and have much more crew/equipment.

Althought to be fair its pretty much useless now because you've already closed your mind to them and would just sit there thinkign OMG Alexi could do this np without giving thought to the perfectionism and precision in place.

EDIT: BTDS doesnt even have a solo -_-' and the DATH solo is more technical than all the CoB solos alone.
And as far as song writing goes, Yes Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper and HCDR are my favourite 3 albums ever but as far as AYDY and BD goes, Wintersun wipes the floor with them, no questions asked.

Song writing wise ofc I prefer Alexi but there is absolutely no way that Jaris song writing isnt top notch. And ofc there is NO denying that alot of the awesome cob licks and sections are plagurised from classical music and move/tv theme tunes we all know that

Song writing isn't mathematics. In COB there's a sense of patience followed by climax, plus a variety of rock'n'roll and emotion. It's better than just rushed over-melodyness for me. I remain open to the possibility that Wintersun is better than COB in some areas, I just can't specify them without experience.. I've just heard things.
