Well, the truth is out. Sure, we don't know for sure that it's the truth, but it works for me.

Should Howard stand down? Should Costello stand down? Should they both stand down? Should neither stand down?

Discuss.

What...it takes today to work out that our beloved PM doesn't always represent what's really happening ?

Ah, but his best buddy, Robin to his Batman, Boo Boo to his Yogi, has called him a filthy, stinking liar. Maybe not in so many words, but he's said it anyway. OK, maybe he hasn't said it, but he's definitely implied it.

There's trouble brewing, and if it doesn't get sorted out quicksmart we may be thrown into civil war, the country dividing into three groups - Howard's mob, Costello's mob, and everyone else who will just sit back and let them kill each other.

Fun times ahead.

civil war and anarchy ?

Where's "frugal Squirrel, homepage for patriots" website when we need all that information ?

I must say that i do like Howard and the way the Liberals have run the country over the last decade, this may make me unpopular but hey.

I dont like Costello myself and think he would make a poor leader, it wouldnt surprise me if all of this is not true but they ( howard and costello) are just stirring the pot to see public reaction over weather or not a change in leadership would be welcomed by the voters, i doubt that this inner party feauding would be going on.

well that's even fuckter than being genuine.

According to Glenn Milne (who broke the story), Ian McLachlan has been wandering around with the notes from the "meeting" for over a decade, too scared to put them down somewhere in case they were found. That's ridiculous. Now, as much as I think Howard is a cunt, Hawke made the same deal with Keating. The only difference is that Hawke eventually admitted it. Howard is still refusing to. Now, if McLachlan does have proof, he needs to make it public. When he does, Howard will have to admit the truth, and by doing so reveal that he's been lying all along. And if he's been lying about that, the electorate reasons, WHAT ELSE HAS HE LIED ABOUT?

I have a friend...finally

I think that this, unfortunately from my perspective, may be the end of the Libs reign after this term, i cant picture costello as leader of my country, but, then again, with the shit leadership that labor have i wouldnt be so unhappy of costello did get the job

Regardless of the outcome of this it's bad for the Liberals. Either Howard's a filthy liar and you'd hope noone will trust him again. Or Costello's a stinking liar and you'd hope noone will trust him again, especially if there is a change in the leadership down the road.

Don't forget my stance.

I support the Liberals over Labour howev er, you have to be kidding yourself to believe Lil Johnny is 100% truthful. I just think that Liberals are the most fit for the leadership position.

If Costello gets the leadership, the vast majority of support the Liberals have at the moment will disappear. The reason Howard's so popular now is because he appeals to people who think the future of this country lies in sucking Menzies' dick, reintroducing national service and forcing kids to salute flags and sing hymns in the classroom.

Costello's most recent budget proves that he's only interested in catering to the very, very rich and how many of those are there really?

However, supposing Costello does get the job, it could be the best thing to happen to the opposition in ages. They might finally get their act together and replace the department store Father Christmas they've got now with a decent leader. Julia Gillard, anyone?
