Oops... I meant to say two, I had typed three but then remember one of the was redundant! See... this is what happens when you're forced to take a second rate education! ;)

I got a few weird looks as I walked out of Centrelink, but fuck me, it was well worth it. I later found out the bitch who dealt with me was fired.... dunno whether my outburst had anything to do with it or the fact that I later rang up with her name and made a formal complaint. Oh yes, I can bitch when I need to!

The systems sucks.

Mum and Dad earned too much, I had to find my own way through uni, plus have the debt at the end. BEcause I had a cadetship, it was deemed that I was a full time employee, and couldn't get a student's concession card. When I tried to claim my accomodation, books, etc as a tax deduction (after all, it WAS my job), I was told I was a plain student, and couldn't claim squat.

A guy I went to university with had a lawyer as a Dad. While he was in year 10, 11, and 12 he was the "owner" of a rental property in Sydney (like a year 10 kid could own a $300,000 house). When he went to Uni, he moved into the house, and therefore lost his "job" as landlord. He was getting everything.

Another guy from Rural NSW had his payments cut by $5 one week. When he enquired about it, he was told that his Mum's second job had just recieved a $10 pay rise, and therefore his entitlements were cut.

My cousins got full benefits when they went to uni, even though their father was a school principal, the Mayor, and their Mum was a teacher.

It's fucked.

When I first started uni my Dad's business failed, Mum wasn't working and we lost our house and had to move in with my grandmother. I got $3.60 a fortnight from Austudy. :headbang:

I can't get it because my parents have to many assets, and I haven't earned enough by myself.

They won't give me any money, because I don't earn enough money.

I love that logic.

Gorey lets make up and vote for Labour together :)

The Labor Party is the ONLY Australian political party with an Arts platform. The Liberals and Nationals don't care and the Greens are too busy with too many other things. The Democrats are a spent force and One Nation is a joke. If you have any desire for any kind of career in the area of Arts (which includes music of any kind), the Labor Party is the only weapon of choice.

Xena, I agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment.

Not to have a go means that you are completely happy with what you get.

yes obviously but it is even dumber to plead dumb than it is to even give it a go and understand a basic concept. That is like saying I can't be assed working out which is the better home loan for me so I will go for whatever even if it means I will be paying $10,000 more a year than the average.
