Hey folks

Not really sure if this is in the correct place, still a complete noob to these forums but i had a quick question.

As it stands i have a Bugera 333 amp, plus a Marshall 1960BV stereo cab.

I read an article about how John Petrucci gets his live tones and i'll quote a section here.

"Petrucci, "I use a 7ms [delay] setting [between left and right speakers] on pretty much every sound. [Editor’s note: This is a technique utilizing a delay setting whereby one-half of the signal (either the entire left or right channel) is delayed by a slight amount in order to create the illusion of depth and space between the speakers. The delay is set 100% wet with 0% feedback so that the entire signal for that channel is delayed by the set amount with no dry (non-delayed) signal or repeats present]. I don’t really use that [2290] for echo. Instead, I use a TC Electronic M3000 unit for all of the delays. "

I was wondering how i would be able to replicate the 7ms split between both sides of my cabinet as my amp is a Mono head and i dont really understand how you would delay the sound between each side. I guess it wouldnt be as simple as sticking a delay pedal between the 2 outputs on my cabinet as this would mess up the load etc.

Any help on this would be VERY much apreciated as i would like to give it a try to give a little thickness to the sound.

Thanks in advance.

Ummm he uses a stereo setup.
What could you do? send the amp's send out to a delay and then into another power amp.

Ahh yeah, i was always aware he ran a stereo setup, i take it he just delays one amp plus cab by the 7ms then? The way i read it i thought he was delaying each half of the cabinet coming from 1 amp, thickening each cabinet up in the process. I may just go out and buy another head in that case :D Bugera aint exactly that expensive round my part.

Thanks again for the info.

Yeah, I don't think it's possible with a mono power amp, I wouldn't wanna run that much current through a pedal or rack FX processor for delay

that's what I was thinking. on one of their dvds he uses 2 mesa road kings. each of them running through a mesa 4x12 and a mesa 2x12 so two 2x12s total, and two 4x12s total.
