Just back from Anthrax in Glasgow

It kicked so much ass!! :kickass:  My neck is sore and my throat is fucked (mostly thanks to NFL). It was a great gig and we got to hear A Skeleton In The Closet which was awesome!!! I have loads of photos and some videos to show you but I will post them tomorrow as I am knackered!!! I got a great video of the HUUUUUUUGE moshpit during Indians, that was one of the biggest pits I'd ever seen. I'm off to bed now to dream of Indians, moshpits and skeletons in closets!

Some photos!!

Outside the venue - I love it how the Carling Academy does that

Beyond Fear - one of the support bands. Sound like a mega heavy Judas Priest (probably thanks to Tim Owens) and the lead guitarist looked like a cross between Zakk Wylde and Pepper Keenan

How big a place is that? It seems the largest audience Anthrax can be a headlining act for in the US now is about 1500, maybe less. Are they bigger in Europe?

It's about a 1,500 capacity I would say. They are quite big but not huge. Their appearance at Donington last year would have helped gain them alot new fans cos they got an amazing reception there. :kickass:

I have seen them twice since Joey has been back and both times they kicked fuckin ass. I am so glad the John Bush era is over and they are back. Will be interesting to see what happens with a new Joey album. They made some decent songs with John Bush but it just wasn't the same.

Agreed. John gave them a nice darker edge, but like you said, it wasn't the same.

I found this report:

ANTHRAX - "Scotland Rules!"
2006-04-09 04:50:26

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has posted the following tour update from the UK at the band's official website:

"Comrades,

It's 7 AM and I'm still basking in the Glasgow afterglow. What a way to kick this off!!! There's never a let down in Scotland, it only gets better and better. Thank you for making the first night so amazing. 'Skeletons' was sick and the pit in 'Indians' was the biggest yet!! I can only hope this is an omen for the next three weeks. Most of the shows have already sold out so I expect this to be a great tour. This is the last time we will be touring for a long time so don't miss it (I am talking to you Nottingham, Hamburg and Copenhagen - last chance!). I'm going to try and get some sleep."

Cheers,
Scott

PS: "I saw so many CDC shirts and it was great to meet all of you after the show. I will be posting video from the gig in the CDC asap. Scotland rules!"

I love that song, one of my faves!! I can never decide who I like better as a singer - at the moment is would probably be John cos WCFYA has been glued to my stereo for ages. I adore that album!!!
