just when I though they couldn't get more annoying....

I just came to the horrific epiphany that Rock Band singers are going to think they're good enough to go big time.

 !!!!

the only thing i do NOT like about the megaman collection (1-8) is they actually changed a lot of the programming for damage (especially noticable in megaman 2). Since they have easy and hard difficulty for all games (which was only an option in mega man 2 of the original nes ones if i'm not mistaken) it fucked thigns up... and i'm surprised it did that much damage to 2. But the hard requires more hits on enemies (metal man requires 2 metal blades to be defeated, not one) but on easy things are ridiculously easy to destroy when they shouldn't be.

what's Jordan?

I think that was the hardest song on GH2. It doesn't come close to through the fire and flames though.

For some reason I found guitar hero to be quite easy. I was getting around 75% on medium as soon as I started playing. I think it might be a combination of good muscle memory from real guitar, and the sight reading skills I picked up from my DDR days.

I'm still yet to play GH3. It arrived the day after I came to Germany for a 4 month stint. /sigh. I've been craving real guitar more since i've been here though.

I thought I was the only person under the age of 25 alive that didn't like Guitar Hero. And I can't stand DragonForce either. All of the kids that think it's soo frickin cool and that DragonForce is awesome, just like all of the other songs on Guitar Hero. When in real life, the only reason they say they like those bands is because they heard them on GH, and they only know the song that's on it and none others by the band.

But they will deny that to the death.

As a guitarist I don't like GH because it makes kids think that they are doing something productive when all they are doing is hitting buttons on a plastic guitar controller. If the kids I know that play GH spent as much time on actual guitar as they did on that game then they could play any song on the game in real life.

They just might be foolish enough to download their dischography you know? And if they play Frets On Fire or have pirate GH, they can play other DF songs as well so they may really be "true fans".

I liked Dragonforce back when they were DragonHeart and had 4 songs on mp3.com. I liked 1/3 of the debut album. After that, :erk:

A bit same for me. I have to admit that about 3 years ago I thought they were great. First song I heard was Disciples of Babylon, which isn't a bad song at all imo. I liked the first album quite a lot back then... Then I slowly noticed how they were only getting worse and worse on 2nd and 3rd album. I stopped caring and next thing I know, they are a huge hit or something.

It's funny that people get so frustrated when they see others enjoying something they themselves don't like. There's so many people(on forums or elsewhere) who will tell you they don't give a shit about either GH or Dragonforce, and yet they never shut the fuck up about either one.

I swear, readings threads like this almost always results in a few dozen posts consisting of mediocre musicians patting themselves on the back because they play a real guitar/bass/drums, etc. Man, it's a fucking video game. It's like people feel threatened by it or something.

I guess you have a point there. But I have nothing against GH though and if you read carefully, you'll notice that there are people here who enjoy GH as well as real instrument playing.

I'm a little late on this convo, but as a someone who makes his living from being a guitar teacher, I thought I'd chime in...

While Guitar Hero looks pretty lame to those of us that have spent years and hours of our lives learning the guitar, myself and the other teachers at the school I work at have seen a noticeable increase in the amount of new enrollments since Guitar Hero got so popular. Granted both heavy metal and more guitar oriented music is definitely reaching a broader audience again recently, but I can't help but think Guitar Hero may be inspiring a lot of the younger generation to want to go out and actually learn to play.

I guess time will tell in 20 years when we're reading an interview with some budding guitar wiz, if he responds "guitar hero" when asked what inspired him to pick up and play.

 sad but true and highly probable

"What was your first guitar"

"guitarhero"

just the thought makes me wanna

I really don't think anyone could find a better band to have a song on GH than Dragonforce. Yeah their music isn't great, but its fun to play, and even more so when you've had a few to drink. And, well, thats what DF are like live too.... crazy fun and booze.

GH + people + alcohol = fun

As opposed to....

real electric guitar + people + alcohol = "wow thats fuckin insane" then they leave you to shred by yourself

however...

real acoustic guitar + women = :D .... depending on the conditions though
