Kansas Post Teaser Video for New ‘The Prelude Implicit’ Album

"...Kansas is offering fans an early taste of their upcoming album, The Prelude Implicit, in a teaser video containing samples from the track listing...

“This is definitely a Kansas album,” said guitarist Richard Williams in a press release. “Whether it is a trademark prog epic like ‘The Voyage of Eight Eighteen,’ biting rocker such as ‘Rhythm in the Spirit’ or mindful ballad like ‘The Unsung Heroes,’ there is something on this album for every kind of Kansas fan. After years of pent-up creativity, the entire band is very proud of The Prelude Implicit.”

The new record, due Sept. 23, also marks the group’s debut release for new label Inside Out Music — a landmark signing for label founder and president Thomas Waber. “Kansas is the biggest and most important prog band to come out of the United States,” he enthused. “I grew up listening to them, and their music is part of my DNA. The Prelude Implicit undoubtedly adds to their already impressive musical legacy. I can’t stop listening to it, and we are proud to be releasing the album....”

That must be a typo when they said that the 40th anniversary of Leftoverture was coming up. Oh, wait. Holy CRAP...

Hoping that they add some West Coast dates!

I've only seen them live once, which was about twenty years back (they had just released their greatest hits box set), at a club in Bangor, Maine. One of THE LOUDEST concerts I've been to....up there with Motorhead and Yngwie Malmsteen for ear-splitting pain. They were awesome, though...Icarus-Borne On Wings Of Steel is such an amazing song to experience live.

FYI, there are lots more 2016 dates in addition to those listed above, including many west coast dates. The other dates are before the new CD release, so don't know if they'll be playing any of the new songs. I'm going to see them on August 18 in Colorado Springs.

Thanks for the information. I updated the opening post with the additional dates. However please note that the "Leftoverture 40th anniversary tour" starts 9/30...

I was ready to dismiss this based on the lack of Steve Walsh, but the singer is actually pretty spot-on. Definitely on the list now.

I saw them a couple of months ago. BOC was the co-headliner. Such a great show. Their singer they have now does an incredible job. If you closed your eyes you would beleive it was Steve Walsh singing. Have my fingers crossed this album will be good.

Great song! Already have the new album on pre-order. :D

Yeah, that pushed it into the buy category for me as well.

That's awesome. I remember seeing the same combination like 20-something years ago. I used to catch both bands a couple of times a year when I lived back East, but seems like they never tour the West Coast.

I've got to give them credit for having one of the proggiest names for an album I've seen in a while.

I don't know if I'll have a chance to see them live this time around, but I've never been disappointed by them in the five shows or so that I've seen them live. My favorite show from them was sometime in the mid 90's when they played "The Bells of St. James" from In the Spirit of Things, one of the more underrated albums out there.

I saw Kansas last spring and they definitely sounded great live. I got the new CD Saturday and was not disappointed. There's no "Dust in the Wind or Carry On Wayward Son" monster hits on it but it's solid vintage Kansas. One of my favorite songs off the disc was Refugee.

Saw them this summer with Ronnie on vocals....he sounded phenomenal, nailed every song and every note, and while he's of course not Steve Walsh (no one else is), he's an extremely worthy choice to replace him.

Anyone dismissing Kansas because Walsh is no longer with Themis making a huge mistake and missing a great live show by Kansas.
