KANSAS: The Prelude Implicit

Just saw this in KC Saturday night. If you're on the fence about seeing this latest tour, don't be. 2.5 hrs straight no breaks. Although the feature might be the Leftoverture album, they play a bunch of stuff off the new album along with some deep cuts to keep the old guard (such as myself) happy. Still a quality live band worth your time and money IMHO.

Ronnie Platt is rock solid. I've been following him for awhile because he came to Kansas after a few years fronting my favorite band growing up, Shooting Star:

But he's no Gary West! ;)

LOVED the first 4 (5?) discs from Shooting Star with Gary, but completely lost track of them after he left. They got royally screwed, imho.

100% agreed on all counts! Shooting Star should have been huge. Almost 40 years on and Gary West is still my favorite vocalist ever.

BTW, in March 2009 they were inducted in the Kansas Music Hall of Fame (Ronnie had just joined the band) and Gary returned to sing a few songs (I believe the first and only time he's performed since leaving the band in the mid-80s). Best road trip of my life!
