Katatonia Help

Better than what I remembered but still not doing a great deal for me. If I find them very cheap one of these days maybe I'll pick 'em up and give them more of a chance.

I've always felt it quite regrettable that I couldn't get more into their later stuff seeing as I consider BMD to be of the best albums ever. :(

The only CD of theirs I have is "Viva Emptiness", which I gather long time fans are, at best, mixed about. What is the best place to start in their discography? Gracias.

Do you have a positive opinion of that album? If so, The Great Cold Distance is a pretty safe purchase, but overall the best entry points have already been mentioned...

I found a complilation called "Brave Yesterdays" or something or other. Why not get that?

Viva Emptiness + Brave Murder Day = big fat win

I rarely listen to the other Katatonia albums I dun diddle have, though I do plan on picking up those I'm missing one of these days. Probably when I feel like listening to The Cure and having a good cry.

I really liked it when I first got it, but can't remember the last time I spun it.

"Last Fair Deal Gone Down" is the only album of theirs I really like... wish they would've continued with that lighter sound... the new one is pretty bland stock metal.

Dance of December Souls is my favorite by far. Brave Murder Day is great, but I just enjoy DoDS more.

i never heard anything past tonights decision. is viva emptiness or cold great distance any good?

ive been listening to nothing but death/doom, jesu/pelican type stuff, atmospheric stuff like 3rd and the Mortal/Dornenreich and nightingale lately. i figured their new stuff might fit in.
