It was fucking great!!!!!! Thanks to the band for a fantastic performance, I think that everybody in the club had a great time altough it was damn hot in there (I was soaked with sweat just after a couple of minutes as well as most of the people and the band, well at least Vincent )
The support was a polish nu-goth or sth band Delight, and all I can say about them is that they sucked...good thing they played short! at the end of their show the crowd started to shout for Anathema, and when the vocalist announced the very last song the crowd responded with 'thank you, thank you!' which was very funny.
Then we had to wait a couple of minutes while the technicians (including Jamie and later also Danny) prepared all the equipment. While checking his guitar Danny played a part of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' with the crowd singing the words, and later also Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
Finally the show started with 'Shroud of False' and 'Fragile Dreams'. The part of the crowd in which I was located was very enthusiastic from begin on, can't tell anything about the rest of the completly (I think) filled room.
Next went 'Balance/Closer', 'Pressure' and 'Release'. Then Vincent asked 'You know what is great about Poland?' Everybody thought that we, the fans, but he answered 'Kapusta!' (cabbage) making everyone laugh.
The show continued with 'Forgotten Hopes/Destiny is Dead', 'Inner Silence' and 'One Last Goodbye'. Next we had some faster songs ('Empty', 'Judgement/Panic') during which the crowd got completly crazy! And they wanted more by shouting for 'Sleepless' but Vincent took an acoustic guitar and said 'Look I have an acoustic guitar, how can we play 'Sleepless' now?' and started playing the first notes of it to show that it doesn't sound as it should. They played 'Temporary Peace' and 'Flying' and walked off the stage.
When They came back for encore They started to play some techno (or was it played from a tape?) what was commented by Vinnie that it's an every fans nightmare - that the show will change into a lousy techno party (or sth like that) .
The encore started with a part of Metallica's 'Orion' (till the bass solo) and then we had 'Sleepless' but it was a bit strange because Vinnie didn't sing the choruses and the ending was different...
Then the only song from Eternity was played - 'Angelica' (shame they don't play 'Eternity part 3 anymore ), after which the last song of the evening was announced - 'A Dying Wish'. But the band changed their minds and gave us 'Comfortably Numb' for the definite end.
One more time - thanks a lot for a great show and we all hope to see You soon back in Poland!
