Kerrang in the uk did a small piece on the play back of anthrax's new album , and they gave it a thumbs up saying the band sound heavier and catchier than they have in years . For kerrang to give it a good review show's how good it is, as all that magazine cares about these days is nu-metal bands which help them sell magazines !!!!!!!!!!

"catchier", ...shit that sucks. Save the accessible hooks and mainstream non-sense for Metallica. Get back in the studio and make a thrash album. And heavy means nothing these days, anyone can down-tune. Korn is heavy and catchy, thats why they are selling tons of crap.

I love it CATCHY, that's why I switched to punkrock!!!!!!!!back in the day Death Angel , Sacred Reich, Exodus were catchy as fuck, untill a lot of bands started makin 6 minutes song or even longer(do I hear .........and justice for all)thats were they lost me, still listen to "fabulous disaster", "the american way" and "act 3", that shit still rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares what these magazine reviewers think, as long as the positive reviews keep coming. To me all it means is the word will be getting on the street more, which in turn means more sells for the band. Which means more money for the band. And with more money you get more power. The more power you get, the more chicks you get. So it all boils down to getting laid. So let's do the math:
Kerrang likes it = Getting Laid

They didn't say "catchy". The exact words were "The new songs are unmistakably Anthrax, but the band sound considerably heavier and more energetic than they have in years".

I still haven't heard it. I know there's a double kick bass thing in on song that's supposed to humble Slayer. That sounds thrashie to me. Chaz told be the guitars sound "more exgressive" on this album and they should at least sound different since Scott playing thru the Randalls. These days I just consider a good, creative, original riff to be the heaviest thing going. I could care less how many cookie monster screams are on an album. I hope there's none on this one. Bush sounds "heavier" to me when he's singing. It's much more impassioned and a lot less forced. I've read many of the lyrics and they're very dark, inflective and provocative (sp?). Frankie's bass is always killer and I'll be interested to hear what Rob sounds like. He seems like a guy who plays with a lot of vibe and soul, that knows his chops as well. I better shut up before I get in trouble.

Fubu like a mother fucker,

PS - Downloaded the new Rage Against Cornell thing. Not bad, not great. About 4 cool songs, I think it's one of those you have to listen to a while and these for sure aren't final mixes. Much better than Rage in years.

heavier and catchier sounds good to me.i think the better heavy metal bands out there and doing well have all got cool hooks.
eg pantera slipknot testament anthrax etc

I only had a quick look at kerrang so if i got any of the review wrong i'm sorry but it was such a shock to see them give anthrax a good review (the last one was back in '93 for s.o.w.n) i just wanted to tell people about it !!!!!!!!!!

I hate reviews. i haven't seen a reviewer with the same opinion as me that i can remember. i think the most important review is the one you give it yourself after you listen to it... i don't need "kerrang" to tell me whether i should like it.

Keeping with what Brent said, I'm not gonna give anything away. The last I heard those songs was in late December in demo form. I'm sure they've (the songs) grown and gotten better since then. Without saying which one, there is definitely a song on there that is old school thrash, blast and all. But in the big picture, its an album that your gonna crank in the car stereo, roll the windows down, and sing along too. It is heavy and hooky as hell. I can't wait.

Believe me, and I'm not saying it because I'm a fan or know these guys, this is going to be the best Anthrax album ever. It will stand above "Among," "Vol. 8," and "SOWN." This will put Anthrax back on the map for good.

Thanks for the input, dudes.
You've got me all stoked for "We've Come For You All".

Now back to waiting............

In my Anthrax listening experience, I have never heard a crappy Anthrax album, they all rule, and why Anthrax doesn't get the respect they deserve is beyond me, I can't wait to here some of they're good ole thrash on the new one though!

CHeers and Brews for all! <Aaron Death>

Whenever I hear a new Anthrax album, the first listen usually throws me a bit because it's always so different than the last one. It's usually the second or third listen that hooks me....
