KHAN returns to singing... at Weddings.

I'm still pretty disappointed enough in Khan that I could only stomach to watch part of the wedding video...

Yep, he sounds great... so does the guitarist.. won't say anymore than that 'cause I could break out my soapbox...

That Wacken performance looks less like his voice giving out to me than a classic example of burnout. Reminds me a little of Mackey Sasser and throwing to the pitcher for the few of you that will get that reference. It's almost as if a mental block just formed in his mind and he couldn't sing anymore all of a sudden.

Hmm...

Khan wasn't actually -that- bad.

Every now and then a post comes along that makes me wonder if the person was actually sane when posted.

This was one of them. If you don't think that performance was bad, either you have zero sense of music (and horrible ears), or you need some meds.

That was awful. Khan didn't "mumble his way through it". He not only was out of key, but also missed the tempo in lots of passages. That is unacceptable for a musician of his caliber. I wonder what Thomas said to him after that song.

For what it's worth, that Wacken clip is only HALF bad. Afterall, he only sings about half the lyrics to the song (albeit almost all them badly).

That was atrocious.

Eriksen has a voice on him that's nuts. I don't care for circus maximus at all, and I feel his stage presence is downright boring, but the dude can sing, and he sounded GREAT.

And this is one of my main gripes with CM. I think they're all great musicians but they bore me to tears, though I know you're just talking about Eriksen.

Maybe his voice just gave out from exhaustion and he couldn't get the words out without squeaking and making it sound even worse. Maybe he had a catch in his throat. Maybe he just had a brain fart. Look, I don't like the guy. I make no bones about it, but shit happens. If I was trying to sing in front of 40,000 people and my voice sounded that bad, I'd be a little flustered too.

Just so I understand the anger against Khan here, nobody is blaming Khan for his recent throat problems, whether it's medical or otherwise, it's more about how he should have let the band know before committing to a tour, am I correct in that??

People aren't always perfect. Sure, Khan could have handled things better in his departure from Kamelot, but I'm not going to hate on the guy over it. He's given me too much enjoyment during his music career to put him on the hate list. If he returns to metal I'll sure give him another shot.

What throat problems? There are no medical issues that forced his retirement.

As for your questions, you can do a search on the forum archives and find a novel.

Thanks Harv, It just sounded like in that live clip you posted that he was trying, but he just couldn't do it, that's why I was wondering if perhaps it was a singing condition beyond his control...... A good friend of mine use to be able to sing any queensryche tune you can think of, but for whatever reasons, his throat just gave out on him one year, and he just couldn't sing worth a crap anymore...Even he doesn't know why, and the doctors couldn't figure it out either. It was some type of condition related to his vocal chords.

But since this is based upon his retirement and dropping a sudden bomb on everyone, I completely understand you point.... That does suck!!

Phew, I just thought that maybe he couldn't sing anymore, but I'm glad his voice is okay....It would suck so bad for him to think that his previously amazing voice was gone....

I tried like hell to not watch this, because Khan pissed me off when he bailed on Kamelot and I was hoping that if he had to go out, maybe his voice was shot, or not as good as once was. Well, scratch that..he sounds fucking amazing, and that pisses me off even more!

Kiss my ass Khan! Michael Eriksen nailed it in Atlanta, and from what I hear Fabio is doing alright also! Enjoy your meager existence as a wedding singer

What suprises me about all of this, is that I've heared that Khan is one hell of a nice guy from those who have met him...I guess that's why this is so painful for me to read.....
