Not exactly a metal post but KILL BILL comes out tomorrow on dvd! I haven't seen it but am a huge fan of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Jackie Brown...also Dusk Till Dawn, hell, basically all things Tarantino. Just wondered if any of you guys have seen it, what you thought of it? And is it worth picking up or is it just a "renter"?

Kill Bill is a love-it or hate-it movie. Some love it for the ingenius satire of 70's kung-fu movies, speghetti westerns and 70's crime shows, while they also take a stab at making fun of japanese anime, using stereotypes from the genre as well as the excessive blood use of it as well. The people who don't like it are those who don't get the joke, or just don't like blood. It's a brilliant movie. I say rent it though, because it's love-it or hate-it type movie.

ive never seen it but then again it cant be too bad

ive never seen a bad quinten tarentino movie, in fact every one of the movies thta were just listed kick ass

Let's put it this way. I have seen all Tarantino movies, and I don't have any of them in DVD (or VHS). But I'm seriously considering having both Kill Bill 1 & 2 as soon as the second one comes out too, who knows maybe a nice boxset with extras and stuff.

Here comes the Briiiiiiiide.....

Well I am not a big movie person and haven't seen it, but I will use this thread to ask Sixx if he has seen "Band of Brothers" ? I know he is a civil war buff though this one is a true story based on a WW2 company, I think he will like it.

Have you seen it Sixx ? It is a 10 hour long HBO mini-series directed by Spieldberg and Tom Hanks. I have only seen the first episode (Sun Night) but I will be renting or buying it. Great stuff.

I am a huge Tarantino fan and I also love Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown but I didn't like Kill Bill. It is nothing like his other work, so first of all don't expect anything in the vein of those other ones.

I have only seen Kill Bill Vol 1, the first half is ok, still doesn't hold a candle to his other films but has some typical quirky Tarantino magic and some good scenes but then it basically turns into an overblown parody of Hong Kong action, Japanese anime and as Wicked Child said a touch of spaghetti westerns as well. Personally I've never been into Hong Kong action films or Japanese anime so I didn't like it.

The end has a good twist though and actually did leave me wanting to see Volume 2 just to see what happened next and I think Volume 2 will be better because the Japanese part of the story is over so I'm guessing there won't be any martial arts stuff.

But as I said, still nowhere near the league of his first 3 films.

I picked up the DVD today but have not had a chance to watch it, maybe later tonight.

Damn Ted, where you been??!!

I saw it in the theater and knew I was going to buy it the second it was over (and I did). I am a huge Tarrantino fan as well and dug this film quite a bit. I think to appreciate it, you have to know where he was coming from on this one and in the extra stuff on the DVD, Quentin explains the origins of a lot of it. It's just a cool film that I think only Tarrantino could have pulled off.

Yeah, I went ahead and bought it yesterday! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it. I like the way he tells a story in different order...jumps all over...great stuff. A great dvd, too in terms of sights and sounds if you're a techie geek...

Greeno...been all over...I'm in real estate school too so I can only log on now a little at a time! BUUUUUUUUUUUUUSY but hopefully it will soon pay off! Hope you're doin' well!
