FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Heaven and Hell Records find Killer Khan

Towards the end of the 20th Century heavy metal in the U.S. seemed to be in a decline. Still there were countless bands across the country producing quality work. However due to the changing landscape by mainly the internet revolution; many of the bands of the 1990s would be lost despite all of their best DIY efforts. There was a new frontier being discovered and many did what they could to survive into the next millennium but sadly they would disappear from what “underground” scene there was at the time. Now in recent years the metal community all the world is starting to look into this seemingly lost period in U.S. metal history.

Little is known about this mysterious band that in the mid-90s that emerged on to the scene under the name Holy Moses and released two self-released albums ‘Latitude Zero’ (’95) and ‘Rock n Roll Forever’ (’96) before changing their name to Killer Khan. They would go on to release the third album ‘Kill Devil Hills’ in 1999 and re-release ‘Rock n’ Roll Forever’ in 2001 under the new moniker. Throughout this time the band received a fair amount of attention worldwide in the press with several positive reviews and extensive interviews in such magazines as Germany’s ‘That’s Metal’ and Japan ‘Burnn!’, among others.

“A weird sound, a great sound, something like old Savatage crossed with Cathedral with a bunch of weirdo indie moves. It’s so cool that metal freaks like this exist and just crank the stuff” – Martin Popoff (BW&BK)

After eight years of seeking out the band and the man known as Killer Khan (aka Killen Khan) Heaven and Hell Records have located him tucked away deep in the mountains of Western North Carolina. There he has been for more than a decade, quietly waiting for the right time to resurface onto the underground scene.

Note; this is the original and not the upcoming re-issue

In June of this year a re-issue of the Kill Khan’s debut ‘Kill Devil Hills’ is scheduled for release. The re-issue will include new artwork, bonus tracks, and will be re-mastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios. This CD release will be limited to 500.

Great. I remember these guys. I liked their music a decade ago, but I never got around to buy their cd. They just vanished. Thanks fo rthe new opportunity.

One off topic question. What happened to Alias Mangler reissue? You won't be reissuing this one?

Glad to hear it. I thought it was pretty good too, something so odd about it that it is appealing. And the remastered tracks make it sound so new and fresh.
Can really explain what happened to them way back when, guess it is the same with many other bands; cime out, little bit of press, disappear. In this case, when I found them they just happened to answer the phone basically.
As fpr Alias Mangler; well it was one of those all to familiar situations when parties involved begin to slack off and make any further movement on a project nearly impossible. These are the things "the fans' often know nothing about, how projects maybe underway and then band or whom ever is being dealt with just flakes out. Such was the case here. I had already spent money on new artwork, I had the audio material and the permission to move on the project. Actually all I really wanted further were some pictures and insight on the band for the release but the one I was working with could not be bothered, I suppose the Van Helen cover band just took up that much time in his day. HAHA So seeing his lack of interest at that point caused me just to call it off, actually I did twice. Same situation pretty much with Glacier. But it is not out of a lack of trying on my part that these things do not happen... But I'm not cancelling out the idea entirely, after all money had already been dropped into the project.
Seriously I think fans would find it mind blowing if they knew how many bands actually don't reply, reply with sentence fragments, are difficult to deal with, unrealistic, list goes on. The perfect and easy ones to deal with are few.
I contacted a certain band in Jersey a few times over a few years span. They had put out a press release saying that the material was being reissued but year went by and nothing appeared so I contacted them again offering to do it. i finally got my first reply from them after emailing before they announced their reissue. I asked again if they would be interested in the stuff reissued, mentioned that two years back I saw them mention that it was being reissued and had never happened, bla bla bla. The reply I get from these guys, "cool man, sounds good". Like what the hell does that mean? In another similar case I messaged the band and the reply was, "awesome lgo for it" now is that permission? HAHAIt is frustrating to say the least.

We definitely could write a book on all the different ways bands complete just drop the ball. It's not like we are asking them to chop off an arm. Send a few pictures, answer a few questions. I mean, not everyone is beating down your door because they remember some band you were in 25 years ago. haha.
