I tend to trust the reviewer in Rolling Stone, Pete Travers or something, and he said it was frickin awesome. He was right on with Sin City and about 1000 others.

Now . . . if only there was a movie theater showing it within less than 3 hours from where I live.

I tend to trust one person, and that's me.

That being said, www.rottentomatoes.com is an *excellent* means of IDing quality movies and poop. It's got King Kong at 83% (a very good score, btw, since very few movies ever break the 90% mark).

It IS getting great reviews, but 2+ hour movies about gay cowboys, directed by Ang Lee just ain't my thing.

Went to see King Kong last night - the first hour was a little slow off the mark for me, but the second act onwards was just a complete, non-stop, 'whoa'-inspiring action overload. Absolutely amazing set-pieces, stunning FX - well worth watching.

'Kong' Konked by Apathy

Poor "King Kong." The $300 million epic is suffering one blow after another at the box office.

After a mixed weekend, the take for the Peter Jackson extravaganza dipped to a $5 million on Monday, and that's what it did again on Tuesday.

The hope on Universal's part was that once schools started letting out, "King Kong" would do gangbusters business after the weekend. It simply didn't happen.
