I figure there will be some haters about this but as long as I'm trying to convert my stepdaughter from the dark side (Country Music) we are going to see the KISS/Motley Crue show in Charlotte on 7/25 along with the Iron Maiden show on 6/21. We've been to a couple of Hoyt's shows in Atlanta (CAGE at the Masquerade and one at The Local) as well as some local metal shows around Greenville/Spartanburg. Keep your fingers crossed she willl turn to the Light!

Not a hater.
Lifelong KISS fan but I refuse to support the current incarnation.
Nothing against Singer or Thayer.
It's just I wish they would have given them their own identity, like they did with Carr and Vincent.

Trust me. I am not stupid.
They are warming their fans up to the inevitable where someday a different human other than Simmons or Stanley will adopt the STAR CHILD and DEMON persona to carry on the name.

Paul has hinted at that numerous times in recent years.

I do not support this at all.
Esp since they are recording new tunes, I wish those guys had their own identity.
I could get behind that more.

Kiss was my first concert way back in 1979. And I saw Motley Crue on a little side stage at UNM for, I think 12 bucks, right before Shout At the Devil broke big. So I go a long way back with both bands. And I've seen most of their incarnations, including the hottie from Hole on drums for Crue back in the late 90's. Hell, I saw Kiss TWICE on their "farewell" tour! lol

And still, I don't know if I can justify the prices that Hard Rock Pavilion will charge for tickets out here in Albuquerque. They both put on hella good shows. There's no arguing that. It would be a fun night. And having said all that....I probably won't go.

I wanted to go to this too but after seeing the $180 per ticket for decent seats they can go fuck themselves.

I saw Crüe in February during their Vegas residency and that was a killer show. I can't imagine them topping that on this tour. And I also agree with Jason about the new identities for Thayer and Singer. It's just so disrespectful to Ace and Peter.

That. But i also think its just as disrespectful to Singer and Thayer who are contributing musically to the band. If they truly were NEVER to record again, then I could maybe see it, and just accept that the band will just be the marketing tool it always was. I think with creating two new personas, it would actually draw more attention. I get it. They certainly are trying to appeal to younger fanbases who know the images of the four characters, and who otherwise might not give a damn about the "man behind the mask" so to speak.

Anyhow, at those prices, a definite pass indeed.

Its a cool pairing of bands though.

I may not be a hardcore Kiss fan, so the new incarnation doesn't bother me. I saw this version live and it was fantastic, though the newer guys having different personas is something I could get behind more.

I would be tempted to go to this if...........Motley Crue was not with them. I saw them at the last Ozzfest and I still fucking hate that band. Never understood the appeal and would probably rather slit my throat than having to sit through them again.

Is that true? That's insane.

Oh yeah...
I have seen Paul in interviews speak on numerous occasions about how the band name KISS is far beyond any one member or human, and that the band could carry on with new guys.

Once I saw them do what they did with Thayer and Singer (Esp Singer who previously HAD contributed to new material), it confirmed for me the fear that Paul was not kidding.

It's the first step to KISS carrying on once Paul and Gene are gone.

Think about it. If Thayer and Singer did get new personas, and Paul OR Gene had to quit, that would be it. Period.

So right now to most noobs, its Paul and Gene, and two other guys who to most in the crowd dont know or care that its not Ace or Peter as those two didn't matter to most "Casual" fans (As Simon identified above).

KISS were my first everything, so this bothers me immensely, and I could never support it.

You couldn't pay me to listen to Vince sing live again.I've sat through it twice, and it was absolutely pathetic.Maybe he is doing better now,but I'm not paying that kind of money to see him sing.I feel the same way about the new Aerosmith tour. Not gonna pay that kind of money.......

I actually would go to see this tour..except they are playing in Massachusetts on the Sunday I'll be flying home from ProgPower..so I will pass..I'll be too burnt out from 4 days of awesomeness!
