Korn - Untouchables

Amazing production. Always found the low-end to be quite godly on their records. This one in particular brings it all together and maintains cohesion whilst still being one of the largest sounding mixes I've ever heard.

This one slipped under my radar for the last decade because I stopped listening to them after 'issues'.

What say you guys?

Production wise it is definitely one of their best. It sounds amazing.

I can't really say too much for most of the music itself though. The are definitely some awesome songs, but I'd take Issues, Follow the Leader or the Self Titled album over it any day.

I agree. Musically it's not something I'm enjoying at all. Gained a new respect for Andy Wallace's mixing though. Can't seem to hear his PCM trick at work on this one.

I think Take a Look in the Mirror is a very underrated album. One of the best I've heard from Korn.

I'm probably in the minority here, but this band has not put out a single record yet that didn't have at least 1 track that I really liked. I thought evolution was terrible on Untitled but I really liked Innocent Bystander and Killing.

Plus even though that record had like MAYBE 2 songs that I can dig, I though the drums they laid down for it were brilliant.

There are a shit ton of crappy popular songs from this band that blow out loud. Twisted FUCKING transistor was one, as well as Word Up!, Did My Time (2nd only to twisted transistor IMO), Twist (what the fuck?), Falling Away From Me, and Here To Stay are some that come to mind.

They also should have never let the clown that did the chopped and screwed shit near that stuff. "Hey look I slowed the track down Y'all it's totally crunk naow yo."

Dude I worked on that record (SYOTOS not Chopped and screwed) and I almost puked when I heard the "remix" album....like seriously, If anyone bought that record they should get their money back ASAP.

Wake up hate was for me one of those songs that made the album...
I've listened a lot to this album actually, never thought why a lot of people disapproved on it. They always said they lost the magic since their effort before that, while I felt it was new twist on what they were doing..

Production:

It was one of the first records with pod for the guitars.

Drumsound is terrible compared to the other albums IMO

I bought my Untouchables in a '3 pack' type thing, with Issues and the self titled one.

What annoys me more is that they'ce cut the swearing out with these weird crossfade/loops/glitch type sounds. It isn't so much that I actually WANT to hear FUCK here and FUCK there, but it just sounds weird to hear the songs without the swearing.

I agree Ermz. That album is massive; I've always loved the feel of it.

For the most part, I still have a lot of respect for all of the Korn albums. I didn't really care for the songs themselves so much personally after Life is Peachy, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the work that went into them.

Production and mix-wise I find it to be the best they've done and I also think their songwriting was in top form for this disc. ... just my opinions, cause I pretty much couldn't stand them ever until this cd came out

Take A Look In The Mirror is one of the most massive sounding KoRn albums, so fucking heavy Its got some decent songs on it as well.

I'm with Loren on liking one or two from each album, but besides the vids for Right Now and Coming Undone i havent listened to them properly since untouchables...

They've had some cracking tracks and some which i couldnt get away with...
