Krk rp range don't have too much high mid, they have less than the average hi mid info in them. Turning your speakers up isn't helping the bass be heard, it is your room creating more bass but not it a good way.
The gen2 have a slightly brigher sound, larger bass port which gives the bass more volume but they don't sound like they extend much lower frequency wise, (I could be wrong I never look at specs), and they have the contoured edges which increase the sweet spot.
To the original poster, don't go to Hydes in Blackburn, they have gen 1s at 1000 a pair, scruffed up pretty nasty too
