So my friend saw them in concert and he said they fuckin' rocked! But i never paid attention. Well i just downloaded a song called "Swamped" from their upcoming new album and i must say i was pretty impressed! Anybody know anything about them??

Lacuna Coil = awesome goth [?] rock/metal. Swamped is from their new album, due out in a few weeks. A good introduction to LC would be Unleashed Memories, their most recent album. It's very emotionally charged music, and Cristina's vocals are simply to die for.

Personal favorite tracks: Half Life, Heir to a Dying Day, Cold Heritage, Swamped, Wave of Anguish, Entwined, et cetera, et cetera. Good choice, Jester-- LC kick all ass.

Lacuna Coil is a great, female-fronted band!

They have 3 full-length albums & 2 EPS since appearing on the scene in '97 - '98.

The song you D/L is from the new album "Coma Lies" which is due in America in a few weeks & is already out in Europe.
Of course, you can order it from www.metaldisc.com who already has it in stock (I did - it's easily their BEST album!!!!).

Most of their output is similar to the tune you downloaded.
If you're looking for tons of experimentation, than they're probably not for you, but if you're looking for a band that simply writes infectious, rocking, straight-forward, yet highly emotional music, than they're IT!!

Songs to D/L:
Halflife
A Current Obsession
Daylight Dancer
Soul Into Hades
Unspoken
Humane

Lacuna Coil writes some really good tracks, but unfortunately have quite a bit of filler on some albums which is a shame. The Halflife EP is the best stuff they've done for consistency across a disc. Still love them though :)

LC rulez!
I've got all their albums. Not so metal but still kick ass. Here's a list and some recommendations:

Lacuna Coil (EP): my personal fav.. download This Is My Dream and Soul Into Hades.
In A Reverie: My Wings, Cold, Veins Of Glass, Falling Again.
Halflife (EP): Hyperfast (my LC fav track), Senzafine.
Unleashed Memories: Purify, When A Dead Man Walks, Cold Heritage.
Comalies: I haven't listened to that one a lot :p

And they're playing in London with Sentenced!! ARGH!

Personally I dont think this album is as good as their previous ones, but is still worth checking oput nevertheless.

Also check out Beseech they are a similar band whos new album 'Souls Highway' blows Lacuna Coils away imho. They have some tracks on MP3.com.

I have reveiws of both albums on my site.

Hey Jester...I got to see Lacuna Coil up at Riley's (Shithouse USA) last December with Moonspell...they are AWESOME and I have been a fan for a few years. I dig all of their stuff...waiting for the new one to hit the States...ENJOY!!!

Okay i'm really digging the "Swamped" from Comalies. To those that have it, does Comalies have tracks as good as this one??

Hey Jester -
I got the CD last week, have listened to it, at least, 3x each day & can honestly state that "Swamped" is, perhaps, my 6th fav tune on the record. It's THAT good.

In my view, if you were to start with LC, "Coma Lies" is the album to begin with. I feel that the songwriting has finally reached the expectations that LC fans have set (not that the older material was bad - it just wasn't THIS good)!!!!!

LC are a fantastic band. Id say they're only weakness is that they sometimes tend to fall back onto the catchy choruses too often when they could be doing something more interesting with a song. Like, they'l be doing great for 2/3 of the song, then they go into a little instrumental, you think something will happen and then they just repeat the chorus a load of times and it ends. Ok, this is hardly all the time but it is noticeable. I got the new album last week. Have listened to it a bit but not had too much time due to album purchase overload. My first impression was that it was a bit weak as there are no real epic tracks (like When a Dead Man walks) no solos, virtually all the tracks sit at around a comfortable 3.5-4.5 mins etc. But it is growing on me FAST! Check out "Heavens a Lie" for a stupidly catchy chorus (L Coil do a lot of these!). So far, I really like "Daylight Dancer"' & two tracks which are sort of one: "Aeon" an excellent slightly weird clean song and following track "Tight Rope" where they suddenly go unusually rocky for the band. Lots of reviews have said that the album is a lot like their old stuff but I was actually surprised that there is a lot of keyboards and samples/programming this time and the male singer actually does stuff for once and proves that he can really sing! Plus the dynamics are better so there is less washyness.

songs deffinitely worth checking out:
My Wings (awesome), Falling / Falling Again (different aproaches to 1 fantastic song that both work great in different ways), When A Dead Man Walks (big semi-epic), Circle, To Live Is To Hide (UMs equivalent to Heavens a Lie), Purify (simply georgoes vocals). plus loads more!
